Mexican food!

I suddenly got a really bad craving for Mexican food. Where is the best place to go for Mexican food in Hua Hin?

I've had a couple of lovely Mexican meals at Terrace 90 recently. Was it the best? I don't know because I haven't tried that many in Hua Hin. I work on the principal if it aint broke, why fix it? Terrace 90 was good - no need to look further.

Cantaloupe island Soi 61 they make a point of saying its Mexican not Tex Mex. Usually a good band playing jazz,blues(light) The night I went the food was first class,as was the service . Quite expensive by Thai standards but worth every penny or baht. When I get back over I will certainly go again.

Yes, this restaurant is owned by Coco 51 and they basically bought out Magaritas.
The Mexican guy who owned Margaritas stayed with them at Cantaloupe Island for a while to train all the staff but has now finished.

We went there a couple of months back and it was very good - basically the same menu as Margaritas plus a few more dishes

Mexican food comes in many different forms, oddly enough. Cantaloupe Island is more authentic "Mexico" Mexican food. While it is good, I prefer Tex Mex which is an American style of Mexican Food found in Texas or California style Mexican food found in that state. I have been to Mexico many times and restaurants all over the U.S. that are run by Mexicans and I prefer the style of food served at Terrace 90, which is Texas or California Mexican depending on the dish ordered.

So what does distinguish Tex-Mex from Mexican food? This is a more difficult question, and it's usually answered by looking at ingredients used in Tex-Mex that are less common in more authentic Mexican food. Cumin, for instance, is not used nearly so widely in Mexico as in Tex-Mex. Meat is more common in Tex-Mex too. Maybe the largest factor is starch - the abundance of nachos, tacos, and tortilla wraps are simply not as common in Mexican cuisine as Tex-Mex may lead you to believe. Both styles have their advocates, of course - although it's worth noting that even Tex-Mex fans disavow Taco Bell.

Don't flatter yourself. Your "Mexican" food tastes different than Taco Bell's, but not better. I've tried to eat it twice.

No, what I meant to say was, having eaten Mexican food for almost fifty years, the Mexican food at Terrace 90 is not good.

We only wanted to help clarify the differences between Mexican and Tex Mex. Many who have not lived down Texas way just do not know.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. We continue to sell large amounts of Tex Mex to our repeat customers. We are now in our eight year selling Tex Mex as well as Steaks, BBQ Ribs, Chops, Burgers, which says it all.

Well, we are coming for lunch to T90 this afternoon to judge for ourselves. I was never a fan of "authentic" Mexican food, but love a good Tex-Mex meal.
