Durian Ice Cream

Post by Matlot »

There's a stall on the forecourt at Market Village selling Durian icecream today, if anyone is nearby I'd reccomend it, I just had one and it's pretty good.

It tastes better than it smells I can tolerate it.

Big Boy I read about a year ago about the emergency services being called out in Plymouth to a gas leak, turns out it was a shop that had just taken a delivery of Durian.

The Devil's food - it's no wonder the Plymouth shopping centre was evacuated.

It's an acquired taste. :D Jack fruit is a bit milder but pungent smelling as well, and very good tasting IMO. I think Durian and Jack fruit are from the same family. Pete

I just ate my second one of the day! The best icecream I've tasted in a long, long time.

I've had Durian ice cream in the past and in my opinion, it's an improvement on the actual fruit which I find virtually inedible.

In fairness, there are obviously different qualities of ice cream. I've eaten Durian before, and although it wasn't nice, it was nowhere near as bad as the ice cream I had.

I guess there is nice Durian ice cream, and the rough stuff I suffered.

Thanks for the head-up. Went for some ice cream and ended up buying some durian cake and, of course, fresh durian fruit. The durian theme will continue until the 6th, so I'll visit there every day only for the ice cream.

What exactly is so special about the Pala-U Durian? Mrs BB was tempted, but decided against it when she saw the price they were selling for yesterday.

I was shocked when she paid 3 times the normal price because it was from Pala-U a few weeks ago. When I queried how much she had paid for the largest Durian I've ever seen, she just said that it was OK because it from Pala-U.

Well, not really wanting to criticise blindly, I've just invested 50 Baht for one of these ice creams for my wife, and it's not even her birthday.

Of course, despite my previous experience, I risked a spoonful. I waited for the gas works to explode inside mouth ............. nothing. Yes, there was a very mild taste of Durian, but this was not the Durian hell that I experienced previously. It was just another ice cream with a slightly obnoxious flavour - quite easy to eat.

Would I buy one for myself? Definitely not, I'll stick to my 9 Baht Dairy Queen cone.
