I think you have to define cheap, and your expectations before you will get a proper answer. IMHO, most food outside of the big hotels is cheap, and there are plenty that fall into that bracket in the Soi 94 (G Resort) area.

For 25000 Baht you may be able to buy the entire boat, crew and catch. Maybe you meant 250.00 Baht and yes, you can have a decent market meal for that for one person, but not extravagant. Pete

The night market is a good area to visit and you can get a whole fish, enough for two people with additional dishes for 300-350 baht depending on species. Shrimp and crab are also fairly reasonable, unless you go for large Tiger prawns which are about 800-1000 baht a kg, although still much less than you would pay in the west. Large Lobster is also available, but again price reflects this.

The night market is open every evening and the quality is just as good as the fish restaurants down by the pier road and considerably cheaper. I'm sure some will have their favourite restaurants and respond accordingly.

Best bet is to go to the night market and see the longest lines of locals - that will be the best stuff!

As others have said, your best bet would almost certainly be the places at the night market. In my opinion, the places down by the pier are over rated and over priced.

Avoid Kai Mook restaurant in the night market a Thai friend of mine was ripped off there a couple of nights ago. One bowl of sea food Tom Yum and a small plate of crabs legs 1100 baht.
I showed my Mrs the Facebook post and she told me she would have fight with them big time if they tried to do that to her.

Kai Mook has two locations. Stay away from both. One in the night market and one on Phetkasem before the flyover heading south. They are not very Farang friendly.

Head down to the main road (Petchakasem) from 94 and hang a left. Just before you get to a string of shops close to the monstrous Market Village there is a Thai restaurant on the corner of a sub soi. Many thatched covered tables and a sontam kitchen open to the road and a large kitchen at the rear. It's quite large and spacious and always busy and mostly Thais. Sorry, I don't know the name but the food is cheap and excellent. Fish with wonderful sauces, excellent chicken wings with spicy dips, Isaan dishes and much more.
