Indeed, and I want to apologise profusely to all and any American reading this.Gregjam wrote:Getting back to the topic rather than childish jibes.
I love americans in general, love their vibrant spirt. I am also fully aware that not all americans are in accord with their Governments ideas.
But I just could not resist the "childish jibes" - was too good to miss.

Bon Cafe sells a good dark roast bean for about 180 per bag. Not quite as good as Starbucks beans but close enough, and SB bag is around 400+. You should be able to find a Bon Cafe with no problem.

Makro sells a range of Bon Cafe beans (and ground) in the 100-160 range depending on variety, in fact until fairly recently they had been selling for months, an Arabica bean for the incredible price of 69 baht which I think is now 120 or 140.prcscct wrote:^ update above, Bon Cafe beans 120-140. There was one on Naebkehardt road, near our house, where I got my coffee, but I think it's moved to 10/449 Soi 94.prcscct wrote:Bon Cafe sells a good dark roast bean for about 180 per bag. I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.
Re: Coffee in Hua Hin
There is a Bon Cafe shop on the corner of Soi 94 and Phetkasem Rd - ie outside the hotel facing soi94 - perhaps this is where Khundon is referring to

Altho I am not a coffee person, how can anyone not enjoy the fragrance & aroma of roasting coffee..? Maybe somone shud introduce a coffee roast perfume scent for some gender of our human race.
When I was a young guy back in the 50’s and catching ships out of San Francisco I often stayed in a $3 a week walkup on the Embarcadero and in that neighborhood, between Howard and Harrison streets, their was a large Hills Brothers coffee roasting plant. They roasted tons of coffee every day and altho in those days I didn’t drink coffee at all it always made my walk between my room and the union hall enjoyable.
All this reminds me to point out a nice newly opened air conditioned sir down place to try here in Hua Hin. It is so new they are still doing the landscaping.
It is ‘Mon Bistro’ on Hiway 4 just south of the S curve flyover, about 100 meters south of Soi 112, a bit south of the open market, across Hiway 4 from Vana Nava Water Jungle. GPS: N12.5323 E099.9608 Nicely furnished, has their own parking lot, friendly staff, huge drinks menu including all sorts of teas, coffees, mocha, cupuchino, latte, etc, Only alcohol is 2 brands of beer but that might change soon as they are just getting started. We had large pork chop with black pepper gravy at ฿159 special - regular ฿179 and spring chicken steak so tender it was not recognizable as chicken at ฿139. I had a nice fresh mango lassie @ ฿75.
Like mentioned, I am not a coffee person so cannot vouch for the coffees but the tea & coffee listings was large so might be worth a try and it is a likable place so would be nice to see it survive. Most likely they don’t roast their own but possibly do grind it - I don’t know...
