The best hamburger in Hua Hin

Post by hin »

Yesterday I had the best and only true hamburger I have ever as yet had in Thailand. At Passport Cafe. I don’t know what their normal burger is, at ฿80 or ฿90. pork or beef, and I don’t know what the extras are st ฿10 each, because I forgot my eyeglasses. So just asked for a burger with everything. It came to me on a big plate of chips, was about 12cm tall packed with lots of tomato & lettuce, bacon, mushrooms, cheeze & other good stuff & with a knife stuck down thru it to keep it all together. If you want a real burger and bother to go all the way out there, just ask for everything and you will leave with a good memory.

The place is owned by a Boston dude & his wife who does all the cooking & bakes all their cakes & pastries. Their menu has other western & Thai food & he says during Hi Season they have daily specials & Sunday Bar B Qs. But yesterday there was no Boston cream pie, no Boston baked beans and no New Englamd boiled dinner so I gave him some razberries about that.

Its out the canal road, left at 2nd blue bridge after the traffic light, about 1 ½ k off the canal road & directly opposite Tropical Hill. The streets out there are such a tangle I don’t know what else to say. But as this is year 2016 just set your GPS for: N 12.602 E 099.934. Open 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM, closed Tuesday

For a legitimate burger, McDonals & Burger King don’t even register. ‘31 Burger’ on Naed Khehat Road just south of Soi 51 is very good with a large selection of innovations but their portions are shockingly small and not equal to their prices. Some bars have fair to midling burgers but ever since Ozzy burgers in Australia I have never been totally impressed until yesterday

Will definitely try the burger recommended by the OP. I had a meal there once, can't remember what it was, but it was good quality and value.

Agree that 31 is a great burger. I was also impressed by the house special burger at Bon Apetite on soi 80. Bobbies on soi 102 is also good - think it's a Bintaburger but with thick slabs of real cheddar on top and a big portion of home-cut chips.

Had one last week at a place on soi 94 that was disappointing. Buns had been defrosted in a microwave and were inedible, chips were extra, small piece of cheese - on the positive, they had a variety on their menu and included 3 tasty onion rings.

Try the burger at XXL Kitchen. 2kg of meat. I think there's a large cash prize for anyone finishing one.

XXL Kitchen ... Is this place in HH, if so where abouts?

Never been there, but I've seen their take-away stuff, and it always looks good, with real chips.

[Edit] I wonder how many seeds are on that bun.

Passed it only this week. Still operating as far as I know. It's part of the resort.
