1) My friend works for Chang Beer. She tells me that on March 19th Chang will offer their beer on tap. She also tells me that from what's she heard, it's much better than from the bottle. The next test is to see if it still gets you crazy-hungover like from the bottle.
2) Fairwell to Carlsberg draft.
3) Hello Heineken draft!
Anyone else hear about the Chang?

I'm hearing rumour (from the M.D. of Carlsberg, P**** L*******(apparently (2nd Hand))) that an attempt to put a restraining order on the distribution of Chang draught is in the court system as Chang is using the Carlsberg 'recipe' all their keging equipment etc ...
Carlsberg are currently building 2 new breweries - one of which is in Thailand.

Until the Chang draft comes, I'll enjoy the Heineken draft. Are there other bars, besides The Ship, which has Heineken on tap? Mai Tai, Old Germany, Khao Suay (next to Thanachai BBQ), and Biergarden (in Satkuran Square) have Singha on tap, I believe. I'm a lover of the draft - perhaps I'll do some MORE research. Also, there are a few Singa draft places beside the road - one near the railway tracks nearly Soi 80 and another in the karaoke district nearly Paradise. And what ever happened to Warsteiner (sp?) draft in Hua Hin. They had a year or two back at the German bar where Old Germany used to be and also at Tom Yam Gung in Satkuran Square, if my memory serves me correctly. Blessed be the draft.

Now have beer Chang on draught in my gaff ...
got mullered on it for the past couple of nights and have woken up clean a whistle
Beer Chang 'sodt' is a little darker than other draughts with a slightly maltier taste, more of a European lager flavour. Funny thing is it has very little after taste, not disimilar to the 'dry' beers that were a fad a few years back ...
All in all a very pleasent drinking experience ...
PUNTERS PLEASE NOTE :
It is 400 baht a keg cheaper than Carlberg / Heineken / Singh ... so 'should / could' be cheaper out of the pump to the customer.
PUNTERS PLEASE NOTE : The Chang provided glasses are straight without a handle, they 'look' smallar than the usual Heineken / Carlsberg mug but are infact identicle by volume.

Chang Darft & Sauna
'
Visited Grand Sport (on the left side of road leading from Phetskasem road to Grand Hotel)
on saturday evening for best original Finnish sauna in Hua Hin. To my great enjoyment
Grand Sport bar sports Chang Draft. Splendid, splendid beer. Much like the fresh-brewed
beers of Prague and other beerlovers' paradises. I'll be there drinking Chang Draft and
ogling the ladies doing aerobics.
Could be worse.

Shadow,
I am not sure exactly what you are asking but I will attempt to answer with the following :
In BKK a draught pump install from my experience works as follows :
1. An application for a pump is made to the supplier.
2. The supplier visits the premises to do a reccy vis a vis pump installation and to acertain whether they believe there will be enough turnover in the bar to warrant a draught dispensing system.
3. Assuming the above goes well, a team from the supplier turn up with a chill unit, gas cylinder, keg, draught head and glasses. This is supplied FREE. A contract is signed making the bar responsible for approx 70,000 baht of equipment. The contract is terminated as and when the equipment is returned or withdrawn.
4. replacement 30 litre kegs are 2,400 baht each for Chang, 2,700 for Heineken. I have forgotton off the top of my head the cost of the Co2 but it's not a lot. Note the keg coupling is different for Chang/Carlsberg and Heineken so kegs cannot be interchanged.
5. Suppliers visit the venue on aprrox a bi weekly basis to clean the pipes free of charge.
Note : The customer can buy C.O.D as many kegs as they wish and return the empties as and when they become eeeerr ... well, empty!
