There are some new beers available now, Archa and Tiger. Archa is in the same price range as Chang and Tiger a little bit more expensive. At least here in Chiang Mai they have Tiger in draught as well.

cheers for the reply.....

that sounds better.....i like Tiger  draught sounds great.....

hope they've got it in the Hin! probably not though :banghead:

what's this Archa then? is it Thai?

How come Everton have got Beer Chang on their shirts? did Thaksin plough the money from the so called "people's lottery" into the blues instead of the reds......????

can you still get 'Leo' used to love that in LARGE bottle! wish they did that on draught!

will reply to your other post re Brighton tomorrow .....

crashing out now......

cheers.

Archa is Thai beer, a bit like Chang but not as strong. I'd say it's very close to Chang draught. Chang is sponsoring Everton at the moment, they made the deal just before the season started. Leo can be found in supermarkets in big and small bottles and cans. I don't know how many bars stock it, though.
I've been in Chiang Mai for three months now but I'll be leaving it on Saturday night for the time being. The winter months I'll be mainly in Bangkok and Pattaya and if time allows I'll spend some time in Hua Hin as well. What happens in March/April is still open but possibly I'll return to Chiang Mai.

Wotcha,
Carlsberg went because they lost the licence to produce here. Have heard it's coming back though.
I only came across a couple of bars stocking Archa, and they've now discontinued it - can't have been selling. Sill can get it in supermarkets, though.
When tiger arrived on the scene, bars I go to sold out withing a day or two and there were no more supplies except for 7-11 etc. Reckon the wholesalers have got their orders right now.
Had a photo from a mate in the UK, with him drinking a bottle of Chang - somewhere in Rutland, I think. So, Chang's now available in blighty. You'd know more about this than me. Previously , Iheard you could buy it at Harrods. Heaven knows what a small bottle would have cost there!!

Chang's available in Thai supermarkets in Edinburgh - £1.30 a bottle. Not seen it in any bars but you never know.

the Chang we have here in the UK has been watered down to 5% :(
i guess it was to reduce the duty and hence the eventual selling price
if anyone is near a hoo hing they got it at i think £19 a case plus vat

That's outrageous. Chang watered down to 5%.
Might as well drink it with ice.
Then again, I've seen lots of stories in the media about the binge drinking culture in the UK, so it's probably just as well that the brew isn't 6.4%!!

San Miguel have brought out two beers for Thai market. Blue Ice and Red Horse, available at least at Tops Supermarkets. Strong brews, 6.4 and in same price range as Tiger.

San Miguel are currently building at least one brewery in Thailand to start producing 'pale Pilsner & San Mig Lite' for the local market ...

Due to Carlsberg 'fall out' with the local boys even the attempt to import the Malaysian brew has been blocked.
