Do you have a Bucket List

Is time running out and there are still things that you want to see and do? I know that I have some, although not on any written list. A few ideas in the following:

I would very much like to see Hagia Sophia in Istanbul. Incredible building, but with iffy security there just now it is not going to happen.

To be honest I think the security rating is a little unjust - we work there on a monthly basis. Istanbul (whilst expensive) and Hagia Sophia are beautiful places... GO.

My only things I have not done are tour China and Russia.

The "Work or Business" versions of both, I despise. Unfortunatley for me, I've spent too much time on them in each - I simply have no desire to return to either. Unfortunately for me, the LHG is Chinese and I'm due to go to Russia next week for work!!
For my "Bucket List" (How many are you allowed)?

Tour New Zealand with the LHG (and my dog) by "Camper Van", visit all rugby stadiums and of course watch!!
Deep Sea Fishing from Cape Town and a visit to the Wharf (many times to Cape Town, never got to the fishing).
Bermuda World Classic Rugby......
Drive East to West USA in a Shelby Cobra (with a luxury Camper Van in tow for rest).
The "Blue Train" (South Africa).
Romantic stay on the Maldives.
Drive from a "6 Star Hotel" in Monaco in a Lamborghini, pull into the casino and put 50 pence on RED.

Oh good God I could go on....... sorry.

The reason there are only 2 on my list, while the average person spent a lifetime building both a career and a family, I spent mine living my bucket list.

Now that I'm past 60 I can see some downsides to how I lived my life. But overall, no regrets.

Yes, I have seen several post from you about working in Turkey, amongst many other places. For years when I was still working, starting about 1975, I also worked like you do. BUT, the big difference then was that the Company (part of P&0 Shipping) that I worked for had agents all over the World to smooth the way. Now I am a partly disabled single old fart, and the World is a far different place. Just have to keep watching every TV documentary about the place that I can find!

Very fair comment - the company I (currently) work for is a very large international engineering company which provides huge support for those travelling. The experience I've gained travelling over the years does however give an insight and foresight into travelling to out-of-the-way places (NOT saying Turkey is an out of the way place!).

Well, that's fair enough, I know many like yourself. Whilst I have spent my life working and "building a career", I count myself very lucky in that I've traveled the world with my job and have seen some incredible things (some good, some bad, some not to mention!). The downside being I didn't have loved ones with me (for the good times).

I once did a complete circumnavigation by road around Ireland. Also Scootland! But I never got to Wales, as they would not give me a Visa because they could not understand MY accent!

It should have been a VIP escorted trip, as my Maternal Grandmother was Ellen Jones from Llangollen!

I would love to go back to Ireland again, both to visit some old friends, and visit some of the places that I missed. Knowing people that live in different parts of the World is also something else that makes a trip worthwhile.

There was once a thread about "how many countries have you been to?" Maybe a thread about what unusual trips have you done would be of interest?

I don't have a bucket list - I think it's tempting fate! But there are a few things I wish I'd done and never will now. Top of that list is skiing.

We in Wales understand many accents - or at least pretend to do so!

LLangollen - Crickey! The LHG and I visited only months ago, with the LHG's "English" name being Dee, it was quite a visit for her being in the "Dee Valley" etc. Incredible countryside and spectacular views.

As for Ireland, I've just returned from a job in County Limerick - great country and superbly friendly people. Years ago I worked in Waterford which again was incredible - superb seafood also.

Good idea for the thread - scares me a bit where some of the guys on this thread have been!!
