Major Cineplex Group Plc, the country's biggest cinema-chain operator, has projected growth will leapfrog in the second quarter of this year, following a strong performance primarily driven by the completion of its merger with EGV Entertainment Plc.
Among the approved new branches are the Petchakasem and Surin branches, to be opened in the third quarter of this year, the Phitsanulok and Hua Hin branches in the fourth quarter and the Samui branch in the first quarter of 2006.
The group plans to spend one billion baht this year to open nine new branches, both under the Major Cineplex and EGV brands, with 51 new cinema screens and nine new bowling branches with 172 lanes in all. By the end of this year, the number of the group's branches will have reached 38, with 289 screens and 534 bowling lanes.
