Belgian motorcyclist killed in Hua Hin
A Belgian man died after his motorcycle crashed into a power pole in Hua Hin early Sunday morning.
Police and rescuers were called to Talad Nad Saphan Khilek Road in Soi Hua Hin 94 at 00.30am where they found the body of Xavier Marco, 45, with severe head injuries near a power pole. Near his body was a badly-damaged 400cc Kawasaki Ninja that had no licence plate. Debris from the machine was scattered all over the road.
Marco's Thai girlfriend, Saifon Phupanna, 30, who went to the scene after police alerted her to the accident, said the Belgian had told her he would go for a swim before the fatal crash. He was not wearing a helmet.
Hua Hin police investigator Pol Lt Col Premchai Thongkham assumed Marco was probably riding at high speed and failed to negotiate a sharp curve before ramming into the power pole.

Re: Belgian motorcyclist killed in Hua Hin
I don't think I have ever jumped on my bike to go for a swim at midnight . . .
I came across the scene of what looked like to be a nasty accident yesterday just off of Soi 102. Blood stains in the road, broken glass, skid marks of large tyres, scratch makes of something being drug on the road (motorbike?) and more blood stains as if someone was perhaps under a vehicle and also being drug along. One sandal still there and one disposable glove. It did not look good.
Be careful out there!

Wat Saphan Khilek is the temple on the back road between 94 and 102. It is also called Wat Charun. Lots of sharp corners on the road, and very poor (if any) lighting. Usually the road is in pretty poor condition when it is wet.
Assuming it is that road, and at the 94 end, then I cannot say what Talad Nad is, unless Nad is just a bad transliteration of Wat. Talad is probably Market - but I don't know of one close by the temple.

I'm assuming that if you drive up Soi 94, it's the road if you turn right after Amara Hotel. That road goes towards Soi 88, passing Khilek Market (Talad Khilek).
There are dozens of 'nasty' Soi dogs along that stretch, especially at night - potential cause?

Ah - is that small market Khilek Market? Then you are most probably correct.

Talad Nad (meeting market) is a market that is only open on specific days. (I'd say weekly, but I think some of them are open 2-3 times a week).
This is the way

R.I.P Marco. My deepest condolences to your girlfriend and family. We did not know each other for a very long time, but you where one of the people I was looking forward to spend time with on my return in december. Thanks for all the good moments you gave to people around you. You will be missed.

How sad, and quite unnerving. That's the road that links Soi 95 and (more or less) Soi 88, past the Railway Tavern. I passed by there on one of my exploring expeditions not 3 hours before.Big Boy wrote:I'm assuming that if you drive up Soi 94, it's the road if you turn right after Amara Hotel. Maybe some people will be interested in knowing the meaning of TALAD NAD (ตลาดนัด) :Korkenzieher wrote:@ pdm3547

TALAD (pronounce TALAT) = market
NAD (pronounce NAT) = meeting / appointment
TALAD NAD is a market usually selling fresh products on fixed days

Very sad, this morning i noticed a small bouquet of flowers at the scene.... lets hope someone out there reads this and puts a helmet on and maybe even thinks about leaving the bike at home. Probably not not be we can live in hope.
