Farang witch hunt continues ...

In a “Quick-Win” effort to prevent and suppress crime that affects the public and tourists in Surat Thani Province, police officers from the Special Operations Unit conducted inspections of entertainment venues, hotels, service establishments, and risk areas.

During one such inspection, officers found a restaurant on Koh Phangan called Colorful Hut. The owner of the restaurant, a Russian national named Boris, was found to be employing three Burmese workers illegally. One of the workers was working as a cashier.

Mr Danil, a 21-year-old Russian national, was arrested on Koh Phangan, Surat Thani Province, on Tuesday with a black Honda Forza 300 motorcycle as evidence. Police officers charged him with illegally working by launching a car rental service on Facebook.

Although this was because a foreigner was blatantly breaking the rules - providing you’re legitimate, there shouldn’t be anything to worry about.

"Shouldn't" ... but they're hunting at the moment, looking for any excuse. Reminds me of the days when the cops were busting farangs for cleaning their own bikes, mowing their lawns, or even playing music in a bar ...

Its a stupid knee-jerk reaction phase which will hopefully be forgotten soon when the next silly story takes over the Thai news.
