Cha Am / Nong yao rising crime rate
for those of you who do not know this area. on the bypass heading towards Bkk its the area immediately on the left as the bypass ends. increasingly popular with farangs. nice quite area, or it was.
seems to be a big increase in crime in this area from muggings and i have now heard of a house break in. locals (Thai) blame the economic situation and increase in drug related crime. have noticed quite a few farang houses for sale in the area. could this be the reason?. local MIB are as effective as usual.

Nong Yao Crime
I have been living in Nong Yao for 6 years and have not heard of any problems. I do know that some of the folks wanting to sell are doing so because of economics alone. However, I certainly do expect to see some home burglaries as unemployed guys with no income look for ways to pay their bills, buy their beer, and feed their wife & kids. Farangs are target of choice for obvious reasons.

For the poster (poser) Miked ... where do you get your info? Hearsay,speculation...how about delivering some facts. Your recent posts on different threads which concern Cha-am suggest that you diffinately have an axe to grind. Therefore, your credibility is certainly questionable at best. Needless to say, anything that you spew out of your pie hole should be taken with a grain of salt!
We have just installed alarm systems for a small number of Cha Am houses that are in a vulnerable location security wise.
One had been broken into twice in as many weeks and some of the others had been broken into once. All in all 50% of the houses had been burgled recently.
About 1km from the bus station/bar road. Some areas of Hua Hin are no better mind.

anyone who has doubts about my views on this area should pay a visit to Cha am police station and talk with the investigating officers. i.m not saying that the crime here is worse than other areas of Hua Hin or Cha am. two years ago however crime was unheard of in this area and now it's a regular event. unlike Baby screamer and Dribble ( same one wonder poster) i do not have a motive in talking up land prices in this area.i do not post under a disguise and i am not called John and i do not talk up land prices for my own gain. we are all on the same side and i feel that on this forum we should be truthful with each other.
that said i think we all agree that rising crime is now a problem that we face. the first line of defence is a burglar alarm system. i have no connection with SJ apart from crossing swords on this forum. having looked at his website he for me would be the man for the job. a professional alarm system installed for 25,000 baht. peace of mind.
i see no point in trying to hide the problems that we face here. honest and open discussion is far better than deceit.

crime in Cha Am
After spending a month reading the entries about Hua Hin on this forum and all the complaints and negativity, it made me change my mind about retirement in HH. I decided to try Cha Am instead and find that the situation is quite similar. I am crushed. My dream for Thailand is over after reading this forum. It sounds like a horrible place,
Never in my wildest dreams would I have considered Mexico better than Thailand. I have been to both.
Puerto Vallarta is rated no. ONE in the world by International Living magazine. What is said here, experiences from actual residents, I MUST believe and respect. I am SO sad. Thailand is so beuatiful, the people nice and the food great, better than ANYTHING in Mexico. But after reading all this I would be STUPID to retire there. DAMN!

LA,
Before I married a Thai, I was considering Costa Rica or Panama, both better than Mexico IMO other than the fact that Mexico would be closer (easy driving distance) to Los Angeles for you.
Good luck, whatever you decide...

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

at least here they clear a disco by turning on the lights,,,,in Mexico it seem the way to clear the dancefloor is to throw some of the drug dealing competitions decapitated heads on the floor.
get real
on the crime radar HH and Cha Am register just above the rumble caused by a post curry botty burp. Mexico is like the wild west....guns coke and crime a go go.

LA Native,
I stayed in Marina Valarta next to Puerto Vallarta and used to walk down the malacon (main strip) doing the bars every night, so i have been to both so i can't see how you can make a comparison from South America to South East Asia two different continents a world apart.
Without coming across as being rude, i think maybe you are a little bit to fragile emotionaly for Thailand that could make you very unhappy quickly, maybe you need to prepare a lot more slowly for retirement, as making rash decisions to emigrate without really knowing a place could lead to big disappointment.
You have to be happy within yourself to be happy anywhere else.
Kendo.

Not trying to nitpick Kendo, but Mexico is in North America...I stayed in Marina Valarta next to Puerto Vallarta and used to walk down the malacon (main strip) doing the bars every night, so i have been to both so i can't see how you can make a comparison from South America to South East Asia two different continents a world apart.
