Condominium ownership transfer and inheritance

Post by limbu »

It's been 7 years since my lawyer told me that a non-Thai cannot inherit property in Thailand. He said
Since the foreign beneficiary is not a resident (having Resident Permit) of Thailand, in the instance he inherited your Condominium in Hua Hin and wish to retain the condominium unit, the acquisition can only be done by transferring the funds for the purchase price from aboard into Thailand. There is no provision in the Condominium Act B.E. 2522 (A.D.1979) permitting a foreigner to acquire ownership of a condominium unit through inheritance.
Have there been any recent changes that will permit non-Thais to inherit a Hua Hin condominium? Or make it easier to inherit?
