We had to go to BKK Hospital a couple of weeks ago for an irritating infection & high blood pressure, and got excellent service from all the staff. A big difference from some of the other places in town...
The place was full of farangs and thais alike, but we never had to wait for more than 10 minutes between tests, x-rays and Doc visits.

I have not beenactive at the site for a while--I forgot mmy password and using the 13 symbol allocated one isa real deterrent. but I will try to keep current now.

The flood period was overwhelming whereas we cope well with 150 patientsa day we saw 350 some days and our Drs were here in the clinics until 9pm.. Now the watery refugees have goneand things are back to normal.

We are going to be inspected by the US based joint Commision on International Hospitals in Jan and are up to our neck in paperwirk for that.

One new service that we have added and I have had some requests about this is Diagnostic Colonoscopy for the early detection of Colon Cancer. Write to me Moreton@bgh.co.th if you wish to know more.

If there is any interest I could arange an information session about this if there are half a dozen people interested. Write to me if you are.

We also will be startinga Men's Health Clinic concentrating on Urinary infections, diagnosis of Prostate Ca, errrectile problems and sexualy transmitted diseases.. Again write to me if you have any questions

Except the charges the HH branch ist still light years away from the level of i.e. your Pattaya branch.
I tried your premises twice and thereafter decided not to complain anymore about another hospital in HH, but using their service again.

I still use Bumrungrad for my regular check-ups and I have been for the last 20 years or so and I am really happy with their service,
But, I do find it comforting that there is a hospital of Bangkok quality now in Hua Hin, regardless of cost.

One of the suggestions that I recieved here was that the chairs in the lobby were not comfortable--well this week they have been changed and they are certainly more comfortable.

One of the new services that we are performing iis COLONOSCOPY for the screeing/Diagnosis of Colon Cancer which is recommended for patients in their mid50s and beyond.
Write me at Moreton@bgh.co.th about this 'delicate matter.

How much do you estimate the patient cost for this procedure?

Dr Mike - regarding your use of colonoscopy as a screening tool for bowel cancer, do you not use fecal immunology tests or even the older fecal occult blood tests for initial screening?
This would lower the cost hugely and remove all the risks associated with a colonoscopy, in fact using the FI test would probably allow you to create a screening program for everyone in the age range.
I'm not in the age range just yet but would be happier to be screened every couple of years with an FI test thus avoiding the full-on colonoscopy unless the FI test suggested the risk was worthwhile.

I should add that I'm not suggesting there is a high risk of complications from a colonoscopy but as with all invasive procedures there is a risk - don't want to put anyone off getting their bum inspected.

Hearing tests--I will enquire today

Colon-- I quite agree, in saying that we now havea Colonoscopy unit set up does not mean that everybody should have a 'scope performed. As you quite rightly say other non-invasiivev tecniques can be useful.

It's good to have comfy chairs at the waiting area, but maybe they could improve the way they call out customers. Last time I was there with my 4 yo boy, they told us to sit and they would call us. There was a lof of people inside the hospital (it was during the floods in BKK) and I didn't have an appointment, so I knew we were going to wait. The nurses kept coming and calling out people's name, in the lowest voice they could manage, so that I had to make an effort each time to know if it was my son's name. After some time I eventually walked up to the counter and the staff told me that they had called me, but I hadn't heard. I told them they had a picture of my son on the appointment sheet and he was the only young boy at the waiting area, so if they couldn't speak louder, they could at least take a look, as we hadn't moved and hadn't gone anywhere. I understand the staff was busy and I should blame the floods (at that time anything went wrong you could just blame the floods), but they could use a mike to call out people, or there could be a ticket system, anything so that you can relax while you're waiting, instead of having to watch the staff and listen attentively when they come whispering a name.

Am I the only one annoyed by that? Maybe I should make an appointment for a hearing test?
