That's too bad. The defender came in from the right and did a soccer type sliding tackle (or going for the loose ball? ) and I was waiting for a penalty which never came. I'll have to watch the incident again more closely on the next replay. Pete

The reason for this, is that the planned schedule of early November fell outside of the "International Window", and the RFU would require the go-ahead from the Premiership clubs for "Player Release" - obviously the Premiership clubs were refusing to release players for the fixture, so it's a no-no. Sad not to see the game, but can wholly understand the clubs' stance.

There's a few Pools on the go at the moment, so this is likely one too far.... BUT I've set it up anyway for anyone who's interested. If there's not enough interest, I'll jut drop it.

Anywho, the "November Internationals" Pool begins on November 11th. For those interested: -

^ It was a hell of a game very exciting - certainly the first half! :thumb:

As is the norm unfortunately, The Blackness turned it up for a burst of 21 points in the second half ultimately killing off the game, but the Baabaas never giving up.

Has to be said, the handling was superb taking into account it was pi$$ing down through the majority of the game.

Perth-based Indo Pacific Rugby Championship thumbs up

https://thewest.com.au/sport/rugby-unio ... b88650670z

The new Perth-based Indo Pacific Rugby Championship will go head-to-head against Super Rugby when it is launched in two years.
As revealed by The West Australian this morning, mining magnate Andrew Forrest’s competition will play its first matches in March 2019.
IPRC and Rugby Australia today agreed on a number of principles for the six-team competition that will include a “Western Force” side.

Forrest launched the competition as a direct result of the Force being axed from Super Rugby.

Importantly, Rugby Australia has not ruled out the possibility of IPRC players being eligible for the Wallabies.
“Further consideration to be given to allowing players in the Western Australian team to be eligible for the Wallabies,” it said.
IPRC has agreed to work with Rugby Australia to repatriate players who have been lost overseas to join the new “Western Force” side.
However, it is understood that IPRC wants Australian players in all sides to be eligible for national selection.

The two bodies will investigate what resources are required to support and supplement Rugby Australia’s elite pathway, including retention of key Wallabies in Super Rugby, the National Rugby Championship, club competitions and community programs.
They will also explore the possibility of using IPRC teams as “sister clubs” to support player, coach and match official development.
The developments were announced by Forrest today.

“This is a transformative day for the players and the fans of rugby in the Indo Pacific region,” Forrest said.
“I am so proud to have reached this position where we have aligned with Rugby Australia on some core principles and a path forward.”

He said the moves paved the way for further detailed planning with Rugby Australia, member unions, Rugby Asia, prospective new member unions and World Rugby.

The Force will be the only Australian side in the initial six-team competition.

IPRC has been talking with governments and unions from China, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Fiji, Kuala Lumpur, Colombo, Mumbai, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo and Seoul.

The final six teams will be announced for World Rugby to sanction at a board meeting on November 14.
World Rugby chief executive Brett Gosper welcomed the progress.

“World Rugby is supportive of the IPRC’s objective to further help grow the game of rugby throughout the Indo Pacific region,” Gosper said.
“This massive region of the world is a key priority of World Rugby’s mission to grow the game globally.”

Rugby Australia working group chairman Brett Robinson said they were still talking to stakeholders but he was pleased with the progress.
“We are working through a range of scenarios relating to player contracting, commercial and logistical arrangements but the discussions, to date, have been incredibly positive,” Robinson said.

“Ultimately for Rugby Australia, the new competition must be in the best long-term interests of Australian Rugby.
“The principles we have agreed to will ensure that the IPRC has an opportunity to succeed and that the integrity of the Super Rugby competition is preserved.

“The IPRC has the potential to be an exciting addition to the international rugby calendar.”

I like that idea, but as it stands now the only real competition the Western Force would have in that potential group is Fiji. Pete

^ Certainly good for rugby both in the region and as a whole - also great to see the survival of Western Force. Will be interesting to see what the final six teams will be, and more importantly their make up. I hope there'll be a limit to "Foreign Players" in the regional sides in order to grow local talent. How this would work however is another matter.

Well this is a sad state of affairs and World Rugby (as well as other Unions IMO) need to step in urgently.

Samoa Rugby is Bankrupt, Says Country's Prime Minster

"Samoan rugby has been declared "bankrupt" by their prime minister before Tests against Scotland on Saturday and England later this month.
Tuila'epa Sailele Malielegaoi, who is also chairman of Samoa Rugby Union (SRU), has asked the public to donate money to keep the sport alive.
The news puts pressure on other nations - England in particular - to share revenues from games with the Samoans.
Host countries are currently under no obligation to split gate receipts.
England host Samoa at Twickenham on 25 November.

Speaking to the BBC last month, the Rugby Football Union (RFU) chief executive Steve Brown confirmed he had been approached by the SRU for funding.

The RFU intends to make a financial contribution - understood to be in the region of £75,000 - but is wary of being caught in the middle of a dispute between Samoa and World Rugby.
"We've had a letter from the Samoan Union," Brown told BBC 5 live a fortnight ago. "What's tricky about that letter is that it expresses a complex dispute that it has with World Rugby, and is linking that with a request for funding.
"One of the things we do when Samoa is here is cover all of their costs whilst they are in the country, so that will happen naturally."
English rugby has profited from players of Samoan descent playing in the Premiership, and in the case of Manu Tuilagi, for the national side as well.
And given their financial might, Brown is aware the RFU has a responsibility to look at the game as a whole."

Full Story: - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/41915435

Whilst there's not much doubt that the Samoan Rugby Union has run things badly, the Rugby World would be a far poorer place without Samoa. The likes of the (English)Rugby Union are incredibly rich and I'm sure will be making a "significant amount" from the Samoan match. Whilst the Rugby Union are paying the Samoan team's travelling expenses, they are only "contributing" £75,000 to the Samoan Rugby Union £75,000 - I wonder what the Union is actually paying it's own players for the same match.....

Also, the Blackness (and to a lesser extent the Wallabies) have benefited considerably from the Pacific Islands - time for a little payback perhaps?

There are comments that Samoa have suffered due to very few international matches have been or are planned to be played on the island. This highlights another issue in the fact that on Wales' recent tour, Samoa's "International Stadium" was deemed unfit/unsafe and the match was "relocated" to New Zealand. Obviously numerous issues need to be resolved, many by the home nation, but the rugby world as a whole must show support.

Good results for Ireland (in particular) and Scotland, but not an auspicious day for England and Wales. Not much to say about England, who won comfortably without impressing. The Wales-Australia game was much more entertaining, but Wales blew their chance to win the game with some bad decisions, a host of handling errors at both ends of the pitch, some great last-ditch defending by the Wallabies, and perhaps a smidgeon of bad luck.

For me, one of the major turning points was the performance of the 2 scrum halves, with Genia marshalling his Aussie troops brilliantly, while Davies had a bit of a 'mare' for Wales.

Having said that, if they continue to play with the same ambition and manage to eliminate the mistakes, they'll be a handful in the 6 Nations.

England need to up their game against the Aussies next week, while Wales have a chance to regain their confidence against Georgia.
This is the way
