Sour grapes from all the England fans. Always moaning. They seem to forget that England players also cheat. Such sort memories of Steven Gerrard against hungary a few weeks before the world cup started.

Did you like the quote from Ian Wright
'former England striker Ian Wright supported Gerrard's 'dive' and encouraged England players to follow his example'

Very very bad losers english fans. OPEN YOUR EYES and stop deceiving yourselves, As I said before they were boring during the WC, do not play as a team even though they have great individual players.

About time time that some of u guys admitted that you lost fair and square and STOP blaming others. The team and manager proved how bad they were. Proofs in the pudding!

Going back to the original question, I think it will be very difficult for Ronaldo to stay for the reasons given in the 1st few posts - he will be given hell. He's not exactly been Mr. Popular for some time because of his petulance and antics off the ball which have only diverted attention from his undoubted talent.

He's already booed contiously at a few grounds where the fans feel he has cheated them, then there's his personal life...

One thing Ferguson might like about this episode, is that it will keep him out of the nightclubs, where rightly or wrongly he's received some shoddy publicity, including the Police sending papers to the Crown Prosecution Service for allegations of rape. He wasn't prosecuted.

The thing that might stop a move to Real Madrid is that it appears the president elect who said he would buy him, doesn't appear to be the guy that won the poll.

Only Losers count these Trophies as Trophies "Won"

I am pretty sure if you ask the Players, the only trophies that really count for a Club are their National League, the Champions League and to a lesser degree the FA Cup.

LEague cup, world championship, european cup, charity shield and the likes have been created for losers to be able to claim something.

As somebody that is very knowledgeable in this subject, perhaps you would like to explain how teams usually to play for the Charity Shield. I'm particularly interested in what they have to lose to get there.

Sorry if I did not explain correctly (English is not my first language)

What I meant was not that these cups were crap... but that for a Club like Man U to be proud of these trophies is shocking.
Yes, technically you need to win the League and/or the cup to get to the Charity Shield, but is it so important to claim it as a major Trophy? I think not. Just ask any player whether they would prefer to win the Charity Shield or the FA League....
That's what I meant.

EPL is not always a good example... look at the Italians, there are only 2 things they are interested in : the Championship (calcio) and the Champions League. you Never hear Juventus or Milan claim they won the Cup, or the world championship in december... they simply don't care.

Nah, the European cup is the holy grail for any European team with ambitions. True it's been devalued by the likes of Scandinavian teams who've been permitted to join the competition. *Thinks 'Tromso'* :D

I assumed NicFrenchy was referring to the UEFA Cup, which is commonly known as the Losers Cup.

Indeed.... hell, I don't even remember who won a month ago.... :? that's how important the UEFA cup is...... or is it just a moneymaking machine for UEFA ?

The Champion's League is also not that Great.... I mean, you got 5 english Teams, 5 italian, 4 spanish, 3 french..... out of the 30 teams there, only 10% are real champions

I always thought that the Cup Winners Cup was a good competition - I went to see the last final at Villa Park. Excellent game & atmosphere; Lazio 2, Real Mallorca 1. They sacrificed it to allow more losers into the so called 'Champions' League (some of whom have won it - including Real Madrid & Liverpool) and into the Uefa Cup. Anybody else think that the CWC was a decent competition?

I ain't got nothing against the UEFA cup, if the losers want a competition of their own then fair do's to them, as long as it keeps them out of the way of the big boys I'm all for it :D

Getting this thread back to something like the original topic, I have the France - Portugal semi-final on in the corner of my monitor screen and have just seen a most dramatic dive by Henry to get a penalty. Sure the defender made some slight contact (he was on his arse at the time) but Henry's reaction was delayed and dramatic enough to make me laugh out loud! It looked like he was saving a penalty. Since it is where he has played most of his football, I can only suppose that he learned that little trick playing in the English Premiership?

Jaime,

Did you see the dive by Cheating Ronaldo just before half time?
I can only suppose that he learned that little trick playing in the English Premiership?
Admitedly Rodney Marsh originated this form of cheating, but remember England also invented football - everybody keeps telling me on this forum how bad England are at that now.

Likewise, although we invented the cheat, our cousins from other countries have perfected it from a very young age, and are now practising it every week in the Premiership.
