Started June 2025

Alcohol Sales on Buddhist Holidays and During Elections:

The general ban on alcohol sales during significant Buddhist holidays (e.g., Makha Bucha, Visakha Bucha, Asanha Bucha, Buddhist Lent start and end) remains in effect.

However, the following venues are exempt from this ban on Buddhist holidays:
-International airport terminals (outbound flights).
-Licensed entertainment venues (restaurants, pubs, etc.).
-Tourist attractions in designated zones.
-Legally registered hotels
-Venues hosting major national or international events.

Alcohol sales remain banned during elections (from 6:00 PM the day before until 6:00 PM on election day).

Can anybody actually define a licensed entertainment venue? It sounds very broad based.

Commercially registered, according both commercial code and entertainment act.
So they have to have the permits, shown in their location, and pay taxes...

Does that mean most Hua Hin establishments are not registered, don't have permits nor pay taxes?

That, or they are not aware of the new legislation, June 25 is pretty recent. Or they already gave their staff a day off and plans were made as. It is an official Tamboon occasion, or they just follow a bhuddist calendar..

Bit annoying. Just got back into HH at 6pm after a couple of weeks in Europe. Was planning on going out with the wife. But that has been hit on the head. And also tomorrow !?!

And sitting on the doorstep of a local shop doesn't really do it for us :-)

Plane into BKK was 100% full. Lot of tourists. Many might not be so happy to find nightlife is out for 2 nights.
