My personal guesstimate would be much less than a square mile.

About 80 bars? You can circumnavigate it in about 20 minutes.
Pattaya has about 2000 bars so that can give you an idea.

Patts wise I'd relate it to an amble around Soi 13/Soi Yamato area between Beach Rd and Pattaya 2.

Not familiar with the area Mags mentioned, but I'd relate HH to a walk up and down Pattaya Soi's 7 & 8 in terms of general area size, but with less 'girls/action' here, some bars may have just 6-8 staff. Bar-wise Pattaya and HH are chalk and cheese, like Blackpool and Buxton, Amsterdam and Ayelsbury (apologies non-Brits).

There is an additional row of bars popular'ish with farangs, Soi 80, which is about half a km South from centre of town, bar map:

Yes - Lindas is a bar run by arguably the longest established doyen in HH. Linda is a character whose command of English far exceeds her apparent understanding of it. The bar is small, but welcoming when she gets to know you.
Dicks Office is good for expats, and always has been since it's first incarnation in town. Plenty of footy coverage plus darts and pool.
Last time I was there (a while back now) Soi 80 was pretty quiet. It seems to be an area which aims for a regular expat trade rather than hitting the big time. Pleasant enough if you want to avoid the hassle of the BintaBars.

Thaiwaii (across from Dick's office) is a decent American owned place with a pool table and a TVs for sports and a Wii game. I used to go down there but I mostly get out during the day at lunch time or in the early afternoons and nothing there seems to open until dusk...
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Thanks for the feed back.

Will keep it in mind when I next venture to Hua Hin.

That probably won't be for awhile in view of the present state of things in Bangkok etc.

I appreciate Super Joe's little map. A nice supplement to the big nightlife map. Just where does the bar area finish in Hua Hin? I will staying down the south end of town on my next trip so the map is useful.
Are drinks and service 'reasonable' in the Soi?

I have to say that taking a virtual walk around was amazing, didn't know that level of technology was available, so thanks for making it public BaaBaa.

No problem, GOOGLE STREET VIEW is even better. It only has pics for Thailand at the moment but I'm sure you can take a walk around your hometown.
