Dicks office is now under new ownership and renamned Miss You. Tonight is their opening party free buffet and enertainment. Owner is a really nice Norwegian guy and wish him the best of luck. ANyone wants to say hi to Richard (Dick!) he will be around!

Ah, so *that's* what all the racket is tonight! They are still going strong with the amplified live music now at almost 0100. Heard two renditions of "Happy Birthday," as well. I'll cut them some slack since this is a special event: grand opening.

Hi Osmo, I hope you and the feamily are doing great! Dad is taking it easy now, his health hasnt been great this last year and its agood time for him to relax a little - will let him know you send your best!

Sure its not gonna be noisy more than a few times a week - they will have free Karoake with the same people as last night on Mondays and Thursdays..

Not sure if this should be a topic in it's own right. Mods please move if so.
On the topic of bar noise, we don't live in a bar area at all, but we are having massive problems with a place thats opened up in a mainly residential area about 20 meters away from our house.

This place belts it out seven nights a week from about 7/7.30 pm regularly until after 1pm, mostly now with a live band. The volume goes up a few notches about 10.30pm.
I don't know how anyone can sit in there and listen to it! it would hurt your eardrums.
The building is just open, it is only a roof with no walls, so the sound really travels.

Local folk now can't have there windows and doors open in the evening, and don't get to sleep till the early hours. The noise is just totally unreasonable, and inconsiderate.

If anyone has any sugestions as to how to get something done about this, we would be truly grateful for you advice, or who to contact etc.

Don't get me started on zoning laws (or lack thereof) here. You can build your dream home in an open field with nothing in sight and a couple of years later end up with a chicken ranch, fish sauce factory, karaoke bar, or derelict development next door!

You have hit the nail right on the head!
When we bought here in 2006, there was next to nothing near us, we thought we were quite rural! Oh how the place has changed.
For almost 5 years life has been pretty good, and for about 20 hours a day it still is, but from about 9.30pm to 1.30pm its awful.

Sadly there is next to nothing you can do. You will find that to play music so loud/late the place will either be sponsored or pay tea money to the MIB.

So you need to find out where the chief of the MIB lives and set up some speakers that blow him/her out all night.
