Not sure if this should be a topic in it's own right. Mods please move if so.
On the topic of bar noise, we don't live in a bar area at all, but we are having massive problems with a place thats opened up in a mainly residential area about 20 meters away from our house.

This place belts it out seven nights a week from about 7/7.30 pm regularly until after 1pm, mostly now with a live band. The volume goes up a few notches about 10.30pm. :banghead:
I don't know how anyone can sit in there and listen to it! it would hurt your eardrums.
The building is just open, it is only a roof with no walls, so the sound really travels.

Local folk now can't have there windows and doors open in the evening, and don't get to sleep till the early hours. The noise is just totally unreasonable, and inconsiderate.

If anyone has any sugestions as to how to get something done about this, we would be truly grateful for you advice, or who to contact etc.
Thanks all

Sadly there is next to nothing you can do. You will find that to play music so loud/late the place will either be sponsored or pay tea money to the MIB.
If you live that far out in the country the MIB probably don't give a flying f**k who plays what loud.

Paderborn........If the owner is a Farang, a call to the MIB would more than likely do the trick, but if the owner is Thai, then proceed with caution. Don't forget, if you were to report him, the police would more than likely tell him who reported him, and we all know what could happen then. Personally I wouldn't get the MIB involved since that's just not my style. Is you wife Thai? If so, get her to contact a "certain" person in local government.

It's really difficult to give helpful advice without knowing where you are.
Presumably you are owners rather than renting.
Is it a normal soi or a development with a managing association?
Also presumably you are not the only ones suffering from this problem. Are the others mostly Thai? What do they say?
What do the people at the bar itself say to a very polite and humble query about the possibility of lower volume levels after midnight?
Are there any customers? Are they Thai or farang? Have you been in there yet?
Is it making enough money to stay open, or will it fold in a couple of months?

More generally, whether you (and I mean any farang living here) are married to a Thai or not, it is undoubtedly a good idea to develop relationships with some influential local people. It's easily done and can save all sorts of problems later on. I'm not talking about the mayor or the chief of police, just a few middle-ranking local authority employees or business people and a local MIB of any rank. Even army personnel.
People are happy to help if they can, in my experience.
Speaking a bit of Thai is not an option for everyone, but that makes a big difference as well.
This is the way
