A brutal place....Just reading the sign posted as you enter...explaining the rules of blood and stains on sheets and walls is enough to deter anyone....

Hi Sandman,
I will say it was a touch of pure class around PP When you changed the disc, and we had some good old British Two Tone and Ska playin, the only bar in Thailand i have ever had such bliss, a real timeless genre that is starting to get some air time once again on commercial radio back in blighty.

Kendo.

Hotel California took over as the Thai national anthem from One Night in Bangkok (Murray Head - from the musical Chess.) Personally I love both - who's Zombie? But going back a bit to customer selection of music. Let's run this past the old hands. The first bar I knew where there was a mega selection of music, and customers were encouraged to choose - was the original Jailhouse just off Selakem.
And the first bar where tracks could be selected on computer was the Breakfast Bar when Barry had it.
(I am not including Garys' MP3 trials at All Nations for obvious reasons - obvious to those who remember anyway!)
So were Jailhouse and Breakfast Bar the first to see the light? Over to you all... blindedbythelight....

Zombie is a track by the Cranberries off the 1994 album 'No Need to Argue'. The Thais love it.

Went into a bar the other night and requested a song via the resident DJ on the you tube link.
Got about 10 bars into the song when it suddenly disappeared.
I said I am a customer and shouldn't you play my request. I was told the girl (Pointing to her at the end of the bar) didn't like it.
Finished my drink and left.

Isn't anybody into Russ Conway these days.

In the White house (Soi 80) the ladies chose "Leanin' on a lamp post" and were singing along karaoke-style so they must have played it many times. This was the Herman Hermits version. I got blank looks when I asked them to search YouTube for the George Formby version!

Remember first trip to Hua Hin about 11 years ago, Bon Jovi - Its my life was playing in every bar, always reminds me of Hua Hin when I hear it.
In December I was sitting in Nice & Easy bar and that Maroon 5 song "Moves like Jagger" was playing, then the Celtic bar started playing it and then cranked up the volume, and then the Orchid bar (i think next door) started playing it. So I was listening to the same song but at 3 different verses. Done me head in.
The only things I regret are the things I didn't do
