Current playlist in Hua Hin

Post by burnling »

Hi,
I recentley visited Hua Hin and it did seem like every place played the same mix CD/playlist every night.
Is it anyone who has the list of the songs played? :)

Thanks in advance!

The Hua-Hin bar play list has been the same since Xmas..only 3 songs played over,& over, & over...
:guns: :guns:
1) Loca People..(All-Day,All Night..WTF).
2) Mr Saxo-Beat.
3) (you got to) Move like Jagger.
It seems at the 'Temple-End' of Binta when 1 bar finishes playing these 3 songs, the bar next door
to it plays them again!.. & so it goes on.. ARRGGHHH!! :banghead:

It was however refreshing that Frank at Lucky-Lukes played 'Buzz-Buzz a Diddle-it' by Matchbox
the other night..hell not heard that since my teens! :D

I had a lengthy discussion with some Swedes (4 girls + 1 guy) about this in Butterfly bar.

The bar lets customers select music on youtube to play in the bar, but 90 % of what is played is *exactly* the same as the other bars, is repetitive and largely monotone. If anyone selects anything else, it is rapidly replaced. The girls basically said - 'but this is what we like!'.

I asked them how it was any different from what was on 10 minutes ago here, and the bar 10 feet away now - '...but this is what we like'. Usual mainstream, largely black and latino noise-banging music of course. It is no good exhorting the Thai's to change the music, when it appears *genuinely* to be what the punters want! I get the impression that most of the people turning up in HH these days would be better off in Ibiza, and wonder why they bother.

5-5-5! "Whoa..we're going to I-Beetsaa" Well put K. I see time and time again tourists wincing as they walk past these bars,
and it's the same deal with all of them that have thumping music...
Rich Farang meet Thai lady
Rich (dumbass) Farang buy Thai lady a bar
Rich Farang now own bar.(does he now..??)
Rich Farang send money every month to pay rent on bar (+ unsuspectingly, enuf to pay girls a wage)
Mamasan gets status because she's now a bar-owner + no need to make money anymore
Mamasan puts 1 or 2 bottles of Sangsom on a table outside bar everynight for her girls.(lubricant).
Mamasan not give a damn if customers come in or not (no need to make any money..her farang pay)
Girls can put on whatever music they want, crank up volume & bass, then they can party-on
Thai way. (girls only there to enjoy whiskey & fave songs..yes, all 3 tunes)
Customer/s come in for drink. (girls break off to serve them..mmm tedious chore)
Girls/Mamasan turn up music to ear-splitting level so Tourist go and then party can resume.
1 more bottle of Sangsom needed on 'street-table'..leow-leow
End of night bar not make enuf money to cover power used by amplifier..(really???)

...but Big Boss pay all bills if Mamasan talk sweet to him on Skype tomollow..mai-pen-rai. (A-T-M)

(Big appolgies for straying off the thread a little, but that may well be the basis for the 'chosen' music in
many bars round the block..& I like to be bitchy.. 5-5-5)

Definitely not autobiographical as there is no mention of spiking customers drinks to make them sleep and hence stop complaining about the cr*p music. Maybe easier to knock the customers over whilst walking in Poolsuk Road before they get to the bar in the first place :D

 Thanks Jim - well said!

Come back Hotel California - all is forgiven. Oh - and how about Robbie over the Millenium? This is really nothing new, and providing they don't get hooked on the bl...y Titanic theme again it's nothing to get wound up about - it will pass.

I usually start leaving when Hotel California comes on a second time in a 30 minute span....Having dreading it the first time....The thing is...Thai people seem to think it's a relatively new song...
Same as "Temple and the King" by Dio....Over and over...
I would sit through the Thai Elvis set with gusto than hear all these songs in repetition....Grrrrr!!

I have the opposite problem

A couple of the bars I use know I'm a Thai music fan. Providing there are not many farang tourists in there the Thai music goes on. Yes I do like it but not the same old Carabou every time I visit

Well, I'd venture that some of it (on the Farang side) is simply a function of age - most of us (ahem - ) probably have a few more years under the belt and have built up a wider appreciation (shall we say..., as opposed to prejudice and bias towards the songs of our own youth) just through exposure. I became dimly aware of popular music probably around 12-13. Since that is chasing 4 decades ago, quite a lot of water, no small number of genres and a hell of a lot of individual acts have passed undee the bridge. Your average teen has had, what, 5 years max? And probably hasn't yet realised that there even was music before Pitbull! Can't blame them for their youth, but it does limit their range.

The ear blasting music I only noticed on some of the bars on bintha. But then I did not visit that many bars. Had a few I found early on my trip and stayed with them and the rest of the time I hang out at Sam Sam and the discos around there.

At first it really bugged me that it was the same sound track every where but after a while I must have been brain washed and did not notice that much. :p

Not sure why any of you drink in a bar where the music annoys you. There are bars, nowhere near enough granted, that have YouTube/VirtualDJ and will allow the customers to select the music all night, generally without interference (unless you're a kok wanting to play Black Sabbath all night). Suky2 & NewHeadRock I like for this at the moment. The downside is that obviously one of the girls mans the station in between and the Pitbullocks comes back on.

Couple of other bars that are pretty cool on the music front imo are, Papilon (80's funky disco), and the excellent 'new' Fortune bar (bargrooves type stuff), neither needs to be played loud to 'work', so doesn't 'interfere' with you if it's not your type of music. Bit like elevator music then I spose, don't know about anyone else but I don't recall ever being interferred with in an elevator.

This 75% volume approach won't work if you're sandwiched between mega-noisy bars obviously, have sympathy for Usual Suspect & co in that respect. Still, at least he don't go on about it 8)

The places I drink always let the customer choose the music...so try asking. You cant expect thai bar staff who digest a solid diet of Academy Fantasia True TV cack to be afficionados of good music.

At Geronimo we have a "bar" playlist made up from the most played tracks from each "customer" playlist....so you get everything from old 50s rock n roll to new chart pop rock. No dance music (thank feck). The whole collection available is enormous, and if he hasnt got what you want ask and the next night it will be there.

When Im in Mrs S's place you can tell as there is either general consumption level rock on or old 50s rock n roll. I made her a stack of "genre" CDs so if you are in there just ask and choose what you want.

One short burst of dance cack in a bar Im in and its Check Bin time for Sandy.....always fecking hated it and always will. I dont drink in Lukes for that very reason.
