BAR WARS

Post by richard »

Just a word of warning for those out there who tend to speak their mind after a few sherberts

I have been banned from a bar (some of you will know the one) that I have used almost as a local for over 8 years. I was a big friend of the Canadian owner and helped him build trade. He moved to pastures new (Phoenix and then the big bar soi in the sky) but I still used the bar as I had been friends of the co-owner (a Thai lady of renown) for 8 years.

Recently I commented when told local expats do not use her bar anymore, that many farangs were now feeling the pinch and soi 80 offered better pricing and better girls. I think I over did it and incurred the wrath of owner, cashier (crooked bitch) and BG/Katoey employees.

'hell hath no fury........................ :banghead: :banghead:

To make matters worse I started using the adjoining bar which resulted in a pitch battle between two rival mamasans. So I'm out of it now.

BE WARNED. A joke or flippant remark may be taken seriously

What I said must have struck a chord as the Mamasan concerned is now seeking a bar in soi 80

Yeah, I heard people in the new bar weren't best pleased.

As usual with this area, it was probably a case of a hissy fit with tantrums and tiaras thrown in for good measure...............Elton John would have been right at home there.

You need a new 'local'. This place looks nice:

The trouble is how do they know you're being flippant? It's difficult running a bar in the Binta area for sure. Their property rents must be several times that in Soi 80 so they simply can't afford to sell beers at the same prices as so 80. Hell there's not much difference between the price of a beer in 7 compared to soi 80!

But I think you pushed it too far when you said that Soi 80 has better girls. I can certainly imagine somebody taking that comment to mean 'your girls are not pretty'. In fact I'd probably take it that way myself if somebody said it to me (if I had a bar, which I don't!).

I think that price comparisons are acceptable, if irritating, to bar owners. I myself discussed the price of Soi 80 beers, and even girls, at a bar in Binta. Telling the bar owner that their girls are not up to scratch, even if it's true, is surely a nono!! :)

 but not in Thailand and certainly the so called 'young bloods' know best

WGAS  Let em play.

I'm going to test out 'Cowboy' in BK Thurs. Heard it's quite good. After that Nana, BK haircut and a soapy in Eden I've been told is good for an old fart like me

Any young dudes know what is in store for me and what I should be wary of. Will someone try and steal my walking frame?
