Just an observation as have recently spent time in Pattaya, Bangkok and Kanchanaburi where bars and restaurants stay open well into the wee hours. Hua Hin still seems to be under curfew, blackout after midnight, soldiers patrolling in pickups, and tumbleweed bouncing down the sois. If you want nightlife Hua Hin is not the place to go!

But to be honest it never has been, even though you could drink to 2am and beyond, HH has never offered the same type of entertainment as Pattaya, Phuket and the main areas of Bangkok and that's what has set it apart and give its appeal to those who want a slower pace of life.

I find that interesting cause I haven't seen that yet! Is the score they are settling related to their Thai gf working in a bar and going for ST/LT with Falangs ? My friend was just mentioning yesterday how scores do get settled allot in this country, Thai's don't forgive and forget that easily.. hmm.
You don't want to be seeing it either - whenever you're a tourist on this planet and the locals start fighting, make yourself scarce..

By way of example, in case you didn't hear, there was a 4am shootout on soi Selakam last year that left one Thai man dead and another wounded.

There was also an incident more recently in the small hours, the full detail of which is unclear, which left a tourist badly beaten..
I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I shall be sober and you will still be ugly...

No but it used to be a better night out than Kanchanaburi!

I am glad to be in the 60s crowd, or over sixty's . I seldom need to be drinking after midnight, and when I do
I have usually stocked up some supplies in my fridge, Icebox, or friends big house with the
bigger double fridge. As for those who haven't thought that far ahead, my advice is ,next visit go to Pattaya!, or Phuket!. I have always had a good enough time in Hua Hin, that after midnight I
will make the biggist attempt to have a stockpile for the after hours.
Pluto is my favorite planet!, especially now that we all can see close up
pictures of it.

I'm not normally a night bird, but had to collect somebody off a bus that arrived in Hua Hin at 3am this morning. After everything I've read on this thread, I was very surprised to see the first couple of bars after I turned left after the Soi 88 crossing still open, and very busy.

Yes, I imagine they get away with it out there, certainly last month the police were patrolling around the city centre making sure that places were closing on time.

Binta and 80 will be prime targets. Railway track and beyond will be more flexible especially the police owned and police friendly bars

Maybe we should make a new topic " Bar's who not follows the rules " and then we can write their names here, so police just have to go and close them, whithout work to hard.
We cannot have bar's try make money or farang enjoy them self after midnight when it's illigal.
Sorry could not resist it  :duck:

edit :

I assume it will continue as long as this does:

"Martial law to stay: deputy Army spokeswoman"

"BANGKOK: -- The National Council for Peace and Order will continue to enforce the martial law for the sake of law and order, Deputy Army Spokeswoman Col Sirichan Ngathong said Friday.

Sirichan, a spokeswoman of the NCPO, said the martial law did not affect daily life of Thais and the number of the foreign tourists was also rising.

She was responding to reporters' question whether the NCPO would lift the martial law now that NCPO chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha has become the prime minister-elect.

"I hereby affirm that the martial law will not obstruct the country's administration," she added."

I gather it's nationwide so there's no question of it spreading and takes effect immediately!!
