I thought the same - that said, probably true that a lot of Thais are pi$$ed off with the amount of foreigners in the country - despite the fact that foreign investment/tourism is the county's biggest source of income.HHTel wrote:A Thai using words like 'Scots' and 'smackdown'??? More like a Troll.
Also noticed the family's nationality has changed.....

Re: Vicious Thai gangs at Songkran
so does that mean the person is not Thai?
Quite often if I was Thai I would berate foreign tourists, it doesn't really matter what nationality there is always scum amongst them. You see many tourist here acting terribly, especially in the bar areas, however it should not lead to a violent attack.

You're asking us to prove a negative. Never easy.StevePIraq wrote:so does that mean the person is not Thai?
Is there any evidence to suggest (never mind prove) the person is Thai?

I'd agree 100% on that one, but I certainly don't believe this couple and their son acted terribly - from some reports possibly naively, but not terribly (not suggesting that you are saying that Steve).StevePIraq wrote:You see many tourist here acting terribly, especially in the bar areas, however it should not lead to a violent attack.

Re: Vicious Thai gangs at Songkran
The issue I have with this is how the foreign news reports are showing an edited version of the video that does not show how this family escalated the situation. In the full version you can see the mother straight away goes over the the Thai man that pushed the son, without even checking if he is ok and starts and argument with him that results in her smacking him in the face. The son after he gets up can be seen at the back of the crowd holding onto another Thai man while the father throws a punch at one of them. This is when the violence started and while totally brutal could of been avoided.pharvey wrote:I'd agree 100% on that one, but I certainly don't believe this couple and their son acted terribly - from some reports possibly naively, but not terribly (not suggesting that you are saying that Steve).StevePIraq wrote:You see many tourist here acting terribly, especially in the bar areas, however it should not lead to a violent attack.

What will happen to the attackers.
Re: Vicious Thai gangs at Songkran
Likewise, the edited version on Thai TV did not show the actual violence. I'll be honest (I saw the Thai version first, without knowing what I was looking at), and say my first impression was that Thai TV was showing more Farang drunks lying in the gutter. It was only the next day, when I saw the version on the forum that I actually realised what I'd been looking at. IMHO, if the guys do go down for a long time, many Thais will be wondering why.nil wrote:The issue I have with this is how the foreign news reports are showing an edited version of the video that does not show how this family escalated the situation.
