The first series had me hooked, Brit drama/mystery at it's best.
Hey, just watched the first episode (S01) of LUTHER. This is good stuff. The show keeps a good pace, good character roles. I didn't realise Idris Elba was a Brit, he played Stringer Bell in the wire, always thought he was a yank.

well GAME OF THRONES ended last night.... wow. The wait for series 2 will seem like a lifetime. Then theres also the wait for series 2 of both CAMELOT and THE BORGIAS .... ho hum.

SPARTACUS : GODS OF THE ARENA is due on HBO / MAX CHANNEL in July. Personally I cant see how they will manage to run it at longer than 30 mins per episode as its chock full of naughty three way shagging and much more CGI stabby gore than the previous series. Id heartly recc downloading it rather than watching the True cable castrated version. Top series and nicely loops into the last one, filling in the backstories of the characters in the ludus.

One I just downloaded from VeeHD.com is the pilot episode of the latest alien invasion survival series FALLING SKIES. Its like WAR OF THE WORLDS, with fiendish 6 legged aliens zappin humanity off the map and sticking creepy control harnesses on kids for some as yet unexplained reason. The plot follows a resistance group of fighters and their cvilian charges as they run and hide from the nasty greenies, shuttling from one hidey hole to another.

Its pretty good stuff, done well with competent CGI effects and nasty aliens....well worth catching on the download.

Loved The Game of Thrones. Very well adapted to the screen from the books. Not alot changed from the books. I think they are only just starting to film Season 2 next month, so yeah it will be a long wait for it.

Sandy, can you drop me a link to the download of Game Of Thrones, episode 1 (S01E01), I have the whole lot but number one is bad quality so I want to get a nice copy so I can keep the series because it rocked! Scoured the web but veehd seems to have taken them all off and stagevu has nothing - the rest are 'view online only' or pay to join.

Now that GoT is finished I've found Legend Of The Seeker to replace it (all available on veehd.com): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0844653/

Folks, I watched the pilot of a new American law firm show called SUITS. I'm a bit of a sucker when it comes to the genre but I realise they are not everyone's cup of tea as they tend to follow the same format but this one was slightly different I felt - at least in the first episode.

The story is basically a young bloke who's a wizz at absorbing knowledge but has had to resort to earning a shady living sitting for other student's exams and eventually participating in some drug running - all for a good cause as we learn. Anyway he manages to secure a job at a law firm...and the fun begins.

Let's see how it progresses...

Kalbo,

If you like law firm shows, a new one just started this month on True Series called Harry's Law. I've watched the first two episodes and it is funny, interesting, and bit different from most of the others.

It was created by David E. Kelley who has done many law firm series (The Practice, Boston Legal, Ally McBeal to name a few) and stars Kathy Bates as a former patent lawyer making nearly seven figures who gets bored, gives up her job, and opens a small firm in a low income (and dangerous) neighborhood.

Here's the IMDB link...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1582453/

You need to watch it from episode one though so that would mean a download to catch up.

I love Discovery Turbo programs, and theres a great series just started where a massive scrapyard in the desert pull an old classic bit of American Iron out of the scrap pile each week and restore it. Its called DESERT CAR KINGS. Great watching, and makes me green with envy....the cars they do up all go to auction and get sold for silly money by UK standards....lovely old classic cars for under $10K. Id kill to own some of the cars and trucks they have done up. They did up a lovely old 1960s V8 Ford F100 pickup the other night that sold for under $7000!

American Hot Rod also do a load of programming, including the now deceased hot rod king Boyd Coddington's old garage...again amazing to watch and green eyed envy time.

You can keep your fancy assed Japanese drift rockets and jelly mould modern cars .... give me a really old pre 60s Brit or pre 70s lump of American Iron any old day....class character and style on wheels.

Mind you there are also on the same channel these classic car programs that make me spit blood. The ones that cover the concourse d elegance crowd. Fing tarts handbags....whats the point of owning a lovely old yank sled if you never drive em and cart em round from show to show in a fing trailer? I like Jay Leno's attitude....cars are for driving not showing, and if you dont drive em dont buy em. Jays collection is a sight to see.

well worth a watch when History, Nat Geo and Discovery are barren.

The second season of the miniseries Spartacus started this week on Cinemax. I really enjoyed the first one "Spartacus: Blood and Sand". This one is titled "Spartacus: Gods of the Arena" and actually starts off with a prequel episode of the first season showing how everyone got to where they were at the beginning of "Blood and Sand".

Don't bother watching it on Thai satellite TV as it will be edited to hell - to get the uncensored version you'll have to download them, Spartacus is one of those series that needs to be seen in full glory!

HHF

stagevu.com or veehd.com have the full unedited versions. Much better than the massacred Asia versions shown on Thai TV. On average they seem to chop about 10 minutes out per episode comparing the running times.

A lot of the CGI fight splatter, all the end kills, and all the naughty sex is chopped....as well as a few of the more choice swear sections. This is a bit dumb as two of the sex sections serve to explain a lot of the later plot arcs.

Sandman - I don't post much on this or the movie thread, but I'd like to say I find it very entertaining and useful. Don't stop. (said the Bishop to the actress...)

http://oneclickmoviez.com/sons-of-anarc ... id-reward/

click on teh links marked MEGAUPLOAD. this will lead you to a page by Pastebin of a list of the download links for each episode. Cut n paste these into a new tab/window, wait your 45 secs and hit the button marked download.

Alternatively search on veehd.com and stagevu.com for individual eposides for download.

Geat gritty oily crime watching, and again here in lovely full unedited form, so as well as all the grease you get all the guns, knives, needles and shagging.

DM

Thanks mate - always happy to share my love of films and TV

I hate the way things get cut and edited, and despise small minded idiot censors. Like seeing someone smoke means kids start smoking.....really? So why is it OK to show bike ads with scooter kids riding with no helmets? Or seeing the lanister in Spartacus shag slaves makes you a rapist, or hearing hin scream about the gods shoving "cock in ass" makes you gay?

With films I hate the way that a bunch of dimwit goldfish attention span jocks in a test audience mean the film gets edited to death. Then you buy the DVD, see the cut scenes, and wonder why the hell they didnt leave them in. Or you drop the original and cut off alternative ending and sit there wondering why it was changed as its much better than the new theatrical release one. Rarely is it the other way round, and rarely does a director get the final say. Layer Cake is n interesting one....on the DVD you get the sweety pie ending the studios wanted to tack on which is all bubblegum forests....and the director point blank refused to make the change so the original much better open ended ending is the one you see.

Even Ridley Scott had to slice up Kingdom Of Heaven to suit the studios idiot test audience....then got his own back later. Scorsese had to shorten Gangs Of New York for the same reason....jocks on a kegger.

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen would have been a much better and coherent film if the cut out stuff had been left in there. The recut Directors version of Kingdom Of Heaven is not just a different and deeper film, its a bloody benchmark for excellent directors cuts now. Deathwatch is sad...the guys just ran out of money but included the half finished scenes on the DVD to show why funders should pull their bloody fingers out of their ears....still a great WW1 horror film though. To Kill A King suffered the same stupid UK funding issues. 13 Assassins in its Japanese full length version is a full 30 mins longer. Problem is the studio decided western auiences were too thick to sit through the character development scenes so cut em out of the western version...and so now there are no subtitles for those bits.

Frickin idiot studios.
