I love Discovery Turbo programs, and theres a great series just started where a massive scrapyard in the desert pull an old classic bit of American Iron out of the scrap pile each week and restore it. Its called
DESERT CAR KINGS. Great watching, and makes me green with envy....the cars they do up all go to auction and get sold for silly money by UK standards....lovely old classic cars for under $10K. Id kill to own some of the cars and trucks they have done up. They did up a lovely old 1960s V8 Ford F100 pickup the other night that sold for under $7000!
American Hot Rod also do a load of programming, including the now deceased hot rod king Boyd Coddington's old garage...again amazing to watch and green eyed envy time.
You can keep your fancy assed Japanese drift rockets and jelly mould modern cars .... give me a really old pre 60s Brit or pre 70s lump of American Iron any old day....class character and style on wheels.
Mind you there are also on the same channel these classic car programs that make me spit blood. The ones that cover the concourse d elegance crowd. Fing tarts handbags....whats the point of owning a lovely old yank sled if you never drive em and cart em round from show to show in a fing trailer? I like Jay Leno's attitude....cars are for driving not showing, and if you dont drive em dont buy em. Jays collection is a sight to see.
well worth a watch when History, Nat Geo and Discovery are barren.
