A day in Prachuab

Post by buksida »

Prachuab Kirikhan town is around 90km south of Hua Hin, it takes about an hour and fifteen to drive it so we thought we'd spend a day there.

First the physical stuff and a climb up the 395 steps of Mirror Mountain Temple (Wat Khao Chong Grajok). I've been past this place a hundred times but never been up it until today ...

Let the punishment begin - we chose a nice hot day for this ...

But the views from the top were worth it - looking north

Looking south

Zoom on the town, you can see the airfield on the left

This spot was of significance during WWII:

Step away from monkey junior ...

These critters were relatively tame compared to the savages on Takiab hill!

Always easier going down

Mountain view tee-off, I reckon I can hit that with my driver!

A nine hole military golf course can be played for about 120 baht, I declined today as my game is in a bad place at the moment!

Ao Manao, a great spot for an afternoon feed and a swim

This is one of my favourite spots along this coast, it is all military land so businesses are regulated and it is kept clean with good facilities. Food and drink are all top notch and half the price of Hua Hin, the beach is great for kids as the water is clear, shallow and warm.

Got to agree Ao Manao is a lovely place and the see is so shallow for a long long way.

i love driving down to ao manoe beautiful beach ideal for a bbq and on wing 5 you can see and feed black monkeys with white face unsure of their breed ,but if your lucky see the planes take off standing beside the runway,

Its a 9 hole course and well worth the money if you are down there.

Be careful on the 1st hole especially if you play with a hook as your ball will end up on the small driving range. I never found mine, I carried on with a range ball which my partners didn't see.

Played the course years ago and remember that it was worthwhile. I think we paid 100THB then and I'm sure that they expected us to go round twice for that, although I'm not sure.
Trolleys for rent, no caddies. Lots of water and reasonably long.

Nice pictures!!! My last time in Prachuap was in 2000, must go back there for my next trip. Does anybody know sun beach GH? In 2000, the night life was very quiet, I suppose the things stay the same....

There is nightlife in Prachuap - depends on where you go. There are 3 or 4 girlie bars on Pecthkasem, southern part of Prachtuab.
