Khao Takiab beach conditions in mid October

Post by Crocket »

Hi all,

Last year we visited Hua Hin for the first time in early December we normally come around March, the beach we normally use I think it's called Khao Takiab (HH side of Monkey Mountain) was inaccessible due to high tides etc, therefore we went just around the corner at the bottom of Aow Ta-kiab3 nice beach all was hunki dori.

We are coming again to Hua Hin but this time in mid October, can anyone tell me if we can gain access to these beaches at this time of year.

Flying out Oct 5th can,t wait. Chang Chang.

Kind regards

Crocket

Well I thought it was funny!!!!!!!!

The highest tides are around christmas so october will be fine unless strong winds but I have never seen south of monkey mountain inaccessible. I haven't got this years tide chart tables but you will find them easy enough on google.

October had the worst rain of the past, and only, year I've been here. Climate data agrees.

I agree no high tides but it will be jellyfish season with the rain and currents.

Here's an easy and free way of checking the tides.
I use it regularly for fishing trips and it seems to be pretty much on the ball.

Hope this is of some use to someone.

Why you Farang people come our country and want UK for our tides. This is Thailand so tides not belong to UK website......................lol

To answer the OP..........Takiap beach, as well as the others, will all be fine apart from the odd jelly fish. Hope you have a great time.... :thumb:

Erm, not sure a site that writes the following is to be trusted.
EasyTide predictions are based on the standard time of the country concerned. For the UK this is GMT (which is in force from 02:00 am on the last Sunday in October until 01:00am on the last Sunday in March).

I suppose they mean local time Nereus; between those times stated in the UK, local time is GMT and after that it's BST, British summer time.(GMT+1)

I wish someone could explain the tide timetables. High tide is easy, but how do you work out if low tide is merely about a yard lower and therefore still covers the whole beach? ie how do you know when and where you can go for a good walk?
cheers

Here's a short video of the beach at Khao Takiab that I filmed after the storms last October:

What I will say in Khao Takiab's defence is that was the only time I've ever seen it like that in over 10 years of visiting.

As it says " Based on the standard time of the country concerned " Which I think on the page I gave the link to was Hua Hin Thailand.
I use it, as I launch my boat from the beach here in Kao Tao and high tide is a much easier time to do it.
Go your own way, this works for me !
