Does anybody know if this actually happened? If it did, is it still running?

Not that I'm aware, HH railway station would be the place to ask though.

I would like to get a steam train down to Bangsapan nice long walk on an empty beach then a long lunch in a bar and restaurant called Country Road been told it's highly recommended.
Could be a lovely afternoon out and no worries about driving.

I am a great fan of train journeys. I have just watched the second episode of Indian Hill Railways which is on BBC4. The trains were made in the UK at the end of the nineteenth century. They a religiously maintained and work really well. The steam train is more powerful uphill, than the diesel trains and the engine pushes the carriages up rather than pulls them up. Apparently they are more expensive to run. Well worth a watch!
