It seems a long time ago, but originally I said:
Wado-Karate wrote:Training is currently taking place:

Wednesday from 6pm until 8pm

Friday from 6pm until 8pm

Saturday from 6pm until 8pm

Other days will be considered if demand warrants it,
This has now been revised to:

Tuesday from 7pm until 9pm - Adults

Wednesday from 6pm until 8pm - Children

Thursday from 7pm until 9pm - Adults

As before, other days/times can be considered if the above is not convenient.

And I should have reminded everybody that the first lesson is always free with the WKF - absolutely no obligation.

Don't forget my signature block, "The hardest part is walking through the Dojo door." Those who have crossed the threshold, have always enjoyed it. Those who haven't come back are due to transport problems - they've finished very reluctantly.

Just a quick progress update.

The club is growing slowly with another 2 new members expected this week. Hopefully, they will enjoy their free lesson, and become full members.

Our most senior student is now preparing for her first assessment in a couple of weeks time - always a nervous time (especially for kids). I know that she can do it already, but perfection is what she needs to strive for. It will just be a case of her holding her nerve on the day :D

Regarding gradings and assessments, in the UK this is always undertaken on a predetermined day, and a dedicated period is set aside for it. While the numbers of students taking gradings and assessments here in Thailand remains relatively low, I will tag this element on to the end of a normal session.

A big step forward for my Tuesday Adult class last night - well done guys.

Firstly, a reminder that you can view Kihon Kata on page 2 of this thread (posted 2 Aug 12).

Secondly, a little bit of homework for you. You did your first proper pair work last night, and as a reminder, I have searched the Internet to find the same moves demonstrated. I have found a video featuring an old instructor of mine from Japan. He is a 9th Dan. It would be advantageous if you could watch the short video a couple of times as a reminder of what you have learnt.

The club's first Childrens Assessments & Gradings session will take place next Wednesday, 7 Nov 12.

The way it works is that children will undertake a series of 3 assessments in preparation for their next belt. As each assessment is passed, a badge will be awarded, which should be worn on the left arm of the child's Gi in recognition of their achievements. When 3 badges have been awarded, the child will be eligible to grade for their next belt.

The way the badges work is:

3 White Badges, then Red Belt.
3 Yellow Badges, then Yellow Belt.
3 Orange Badges, then Orange Belt.
3 Green Badges, then Green Belt.
3 Blue Badges, then Blue Belt.
3 Red Badges, then Purple Belt.

As it's normally the Mum's (or Dad's) job to sew the badges on to the Gi, I've attached a photograph of my old Gi with badges attached. It is not always easy to identify which way round the badge should be sewn.
