Is the following a problem in the Hua Hin cinema, as I have never been there? I used to go regularly in Bangkok a few years ago, and the ignorant pricks and their mobiles were always in abundance. :cuss:

Philippines seeks movie mobile ban

http://www.bangkokpost.com/breakingnews ... ing-movies

Moviegoers who talk on mobile phones while a film is playing face ejection from the cinema and fines of up to 3,000 pesos (2,200 baht) if a new bill is passed into law in the Philippines.

Audiences attending events at cinemas, concert halls, auditoriums and other public performance spaces are required to turn phones, tablets, two-way radios and other electronic devices to off, vibrate or silent mode under Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago’s “Silent Mode Act”.

Offenders who "really have to take this call" would be ushered out of the venue by staff and fined 500 pesos (360 baht) for a first offence, 1,000 pesos (720 baht) for a second offence, and 3,000 pesos (2,200 baht) for a third offense, according to GMA News.

Violators would not be entitled to a refunded ticket.

If the bill is passed into law then entertainment venues such as cinemas would be required to remind their audiences to turn off gadgets or put them on silent mode before every performance.

Members of the audience would be obliged to leave the theatre or move to an area where they cannot be heard if they decided to take a call during a performance.

I have noticed a few people texting while in the cinema, but very rarely. I've never heard a phone go off though. I certainly wouldn't consider it a problem. However, I may have been lucky so far.

Anybody else got any views?

Well, it is definitely a problem for me. Just as it is with the rude lot that just cannot arrive on time, and push their way past blocking the view and inconveniencing others. Actually, this behavior is not restricted to cinemas, it occurs at other public venues also. A bit like the Fortuner drivers! :rasta:

Saw Hansel and Gretel in HK a few days ago and worth the effort, with decent 3D effects. Django unchained the best of the bunch at the moment and it didn't feel like 2 hrs 45 mins (although it is!) which has to be a good sign

Fair enough, we all have different tolerance levels.

Hansel & Gretal continues with 2 shows per day. Upside Down has now finished.

Parker is now showing in English at 11:30, 14:00, 16:30, 19:00 and 21:30.

As usual, click the movie's name above for the IMDB review etc.

We went to watch Parker last night. We weren't convinced that we should go, and didn't really know what to expect. However, despite a predictable story line, the movie was action packed from start to finish and proved to be very good entertainment.

Coincidentally, we had one last night - just 5 seats from me. The prat's phone only rang the once, and he talked for about 3 minutes. Yes, I did have a problem with it. :cuss:

The movie was poorly supported at our 19:10 showing, with only 23 patrons (you've got to do something while standing at the beginning :D ).

Just to let you guys know that I'm going to be offline for a few days, so you're on your own in spotting any new movies being shown in English until I return. As far as I know, the next English movie will be the new Die Hard, which releases on 14 Feb (I should be back by then).

I think that all of Jason Statham's films are very watchable - he normally defies death a dozen times but makes for great action!!

That's exactly what my son says. Personally, I don't remember actors like that, but this movie peasantly surprised me.

I'm sure you're into downloading BB so do a search for films starring Staham and I'm sure you won't be disappointed

That's the problem, I have a problem with facial recognition, so it's a new set of actors in every film for me Arnie, Stallone etc).

That aside, my son is in charge of what we download (generally a much better judge than me), and he assures me that we've already watched several of his films already.
