Ballroom dancing and latin

So what is going on around here and where does it happen? This section is for discussion on local events, festivals, and holidays as well as activities and things to do.

Boogaloo is hip hop based, closest we do is Mambo which has some similar moves.

Just an idea at this point, ascertaining interest but will definately advertise shortly as it seems to gather a lot of interest from the circles we move in.

Thank you for your reply. I no nothing about ballroom dancing, so my questions may seem ridiculous :)

What do you need to start (special shoes, clothing, etc)?
How many lessons per month are therem how many people in the group? Do you always need to have a pair to study? How many lessons do you need to stop being awkward on the floor?

Appreciate your answers.

Very normal questions. You need shoes but not straight away. There are so many dances to learn so best to come and try first. We will give you the first lesson free if you mention this site. You dont need a partner at all and may even find one along the way. :)

i watched an interesting show the other night, where people with parkinsons disease, were able to move freely to the music of latin dance, salsa and tango, something to do with the rhythm of the music. It didnt cure them in any way,but for a few hours they were able to enjoy an activity without been restricted by their parkinsons

this you tube is similar to the show i watched,it really seemed to make a big difference in the patients when they took part in tango
