Don't know how it works but I've just come past the park and there were plenty of people jogging and walking around the lake.

Don't be such a wimp, this isthailand and it is government meltdown time. An occasional rubber bullet and a few whifs of tear gas is all part of the charm.

it was in October, the last time I tried. Posted evening starting time is 17:00 but I've arrived at 16:30 and there were already many on the track.

Bring passport. You can't bring in a cellphone.

I run at the palace quite bit and lovely environment!

Show your passport or Thai driving license at the side gate, pass issued and thats it.

1700 - 1900 hrs. No sleeveless vest allowed must be T shirt and no mobiles!

I believe they also do a 0500 - 0700 hrs session as well!!

90% of the people just walk but a few run. Its about 550 metres for one lap!

Highly recommended!

....sounds like a lot of hassle for a jog.

Is it worth it?

I carry a copy of the face page of my pp in my wallet all the time, always accepted. Why last night I had to show it to get the seniors rate at the cinema and for almost anything at the bank including changing money you need it. So showing your pp is no hassle at all.

Ian its no hassle at all leave passport or Thai driving license with the Police guard at the entrance and you are in.

You can leave a water bottle on one of the seats on the left hand side and remember no vests allowed.

Go try it you may enjoy!

Absolutely. No soi dogs, no broken pavement, no vehicles, no roadside concentrations of exhaust, no stopping for traffic or traffic lights, everybody goes clockwise and much of the track is in shade.

Do you need to actually leave a passport with them? Also I'll be taking a minivan to get there and will have my mobile phone are they not allowed in at all?

Beside the no vest rule female joggers must wear attire that covers the knees. My 11 year old granddaughter was not allowed to use the facility as she was wearing shorts!
