So what is going on around here and where does it happen? This section is for discussion on local events, festivals, and holidays as well as activities and things to do.

That certainly wasn't the case in my area. I remember having a few morning pints with my Dad on Christmas day at the local.

BB - you lived in the wrong area! Guaranteed "Christmas Morning" drinks at the local, then back to the house for family arguments and Christmas dinner!

As for Christmas in HH, we have a big mixture - traditional Christmas tree and prezzies (a big hit with the neighbours), then with a buffet style Christmas Dinner (a big meal just not suited to the climate IMHO). We'll have a mix of Thai and Western, but of course include a Sherry Trifle and some mince pies!! Always a great day (if not entirely remembered  ) :thumb:

:? you're the second person to attribute that quote to me :?

It wasn't me - honest :D

Don't get me wrong - we have a very good time, it's just not traditional Christmas.

Where do you live when here, pharvey, and why haven't I been invited? I may be free this Christmas...
Are any houses near you free for short-term rent. (Say 3 days around 25/12?)

More than welcome - There is an entrance fee of course - generally described as alcohol ( ) or a spicy Thai dish!! The odd neighbour has mysteriously disappeared after last year's firework display - and honestly, I had nothing ('ish) to do with it!!

Its become everybody,s holiday. I remember , my mother, a saint of course used to invit a Jewish couple around on C eve, they were so happy as they felt very 'left out' I don't think that would be as true today.
Asia is catching on but struggles a little getting things mixed up. NO, Santa Clause did not arrive on a camel carrying gold, frankinstein and myrrh.

Merry Christmas

Post by GLCQuantum »

It's six days away from the big day.

I've whacked on Xmas tunes for a few days this week. Watched ,'The Polar Express', 'Planes, Trains and Automobiles' and 'Home Alone'. The tree is up (my attempt at putting it up was crap so my big sister re-done it all properly). Lights are a flashing. The best time of the year...

I feckin' love this time of year. The time to forget about all little problems. The time to be in touch with family. The time to get stuffed and have a few drinks with good company.

I wish all members of the forum a happy holidays and may your season be merry.
