Opening of Ratchapakdi Park
Opening of Ratchapakdi Park
Trying to get the best interpretation of this that I can, Apologies if any part is inaccurate.
The Park will be officially opened on 12 Sept 15, and will start with a bicycle ride of 33.8 Km led by the King's Granddaughter. The cycle ride will be followed by a concert in the park.
Tickets are 1500 Baht, and attendees will need to show their ID Cards or Passports. The fee includes participation in the bike ride, the concert and a commemorative goody bag.
All proceeds from the event will go towards the park's building fund.

Re: Opening of Ratchapakdi Park
Just been trying to look into it, the info you've provided seems accurate, although there is a choice of 2 bicycle routes, the 33km and for the more hardcore there is also a 126km route. You have to register in advance and today is the closing date, you can do it in person at Suan Son or online at www.auttayanratchapak.com
Re: Opening of Ratchapakdi Park
Thanks SS - 126 Km seems ambitious

Anything special on in Hua Hin this weekend?
Earlier on in the day I saw at least one C130 heading towards the airport, followed by the Royal Thai Airforce 737 (about 45 minutes later).
I actually saw two C130's (but it could have been the same one just on a go-around) as they were only ten minutes apart.
So, is there something happening in Hua Hin soon that might require the presence of either military big-wigs or royalty?

A flying visit indeed; I just tracked the return flight to DMK, there were two C130's, the first just about to enter Bangkok and the second 10 mins behind.

Crown Prince opens Rajabhakti Park
His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn officially opened on Saturday Rajabhakti Park built to honour past Thai monarchs.
The Prince and Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha presided over the ceremony to open the park in Hua Hin district, Prachuab Khiri Khan province.
The new attraction has seven huge statues of Thai kings built to show Thai people's deep respect and loyalty to the royal institution. They are: King Ramkhamhaeng, King Naresuan, King Taksin, King Rama I, King Rama IV and King Rama V. All left behind great contributions to the kingdom.
The 222-rai park is built in the compound of the Army Non-commissioned Officer School, about five kilometres south of the resort district town on Phetkasem Road.

Some photos of the fireworks - looks like it was an invite only affair though.

My daughter was there. She'd already confirmed to me that it was 'invitation only'. She said the whole show plus the fireworks were spectacular. Hope she took plenty of pics.
