Vana Nava Hua Hin City 2 - 2 Simork FC

2 points lost to 2 stupid errors. Simork took the lead after some very poor Hua Hin defending from a Simork corner.

Hua Hin pulled level with a well worked goal, leaving Nutthapong the simplest of tap ins. Wongsawad then gave us the lead with a well taken free kick from the edge of the Simork penalty area. Hua Hin went in at half time looking good value for their lead.

The second half got off to an awful start with Shota calling for a ball that he was never going to get. The Simork player must have thought it was his birthday as he was left with an open goal to shoot at. Shota got away with another major error a few minutes later, when he failed to catch the ball, which then fell to a Simork player's feet. Fortunately the Simork player sent the ball across the mouth of Shota's goal, when it would have been far easier to score.

2nd half play was weighted towards Simork, but they never really posed any further threat.

Hua Hin introduced 2 new players today - No. 39 Suppachok and No. 32 Worawoot. The introduction of Worawoot for the last 10 minutes swung the game back in Hua Hin's direction.

Alas, a 2 - 2 against one of this season's favourites for a Champions League place was all that we got. Another day would have seen us win 2 - 0.

We now look forward to an away fixture at IPE Samut Sakhon next week.

Vana Nava Hua Hin City 1 - 1 IPE Samut Sakhon

I'm very disappointed with this result, and I think for 85 minutes it was about the worst football I've seen Hua Hin play. Strangely enough, we could have stolen the game in injury time had it not been for a heroic goal line clearance,

IPE were a poor side, with their forwards all having qualified at the Hua Hin School of Not Being Able To Hit A Barn Door From 4 Yards. For most of the first half, I thought the game had 0 - 0 written all over it.

A blundering Shota error right on half-time saw IPE go into the break with a 1 goal advantage.

With the 2nd half came new hope, but it was more of the same. Hua Hin just seemed to be half a yard short for every ball. IPE were introducing gamemanship, with a sniper appearing to down one of their players everytime they came close to a Hua Hin player. They must have wasted about 15 minutes in the second half with feigned injuries. However, there was only 4 minutes added on.

One funny gamemanship injuries incident....... One of their players was genuinely injured, and was being stretchered around the edge of the pitch towards the dressing room. The sniper hit another IPE player, and it became evident there was only one stretcher. The stretcher bearers dumped the player who was really injured onto the ground, and took the stretcher to the player who had just been stricken down. However, when the stretcher got to him, it was like a kids game of cowboys and Indians - he came alive with a touch. The stretcher bearers then rushed back to the genuine victim.

Fortunately, substitute Rapeephat somehow scored his first goal for Hua Hin City. It was a very scrappy goal, but hey, when Hua Hin are this bad, who cares?

What's happened to Shota? In my opinion Shota is at least one division better than where he's playing, but he was playing much of this match between the centre circle and the penalty area. This was a trait we had with our keeper in the second half of last season. I wonder if it is something being drummed in by the goalkeeping coach. If it is, I think we need a new coach.

Still, we are now 3 games unbeaten. If you had said we'd achieve that back in January, I'd have laughed at you. Mind you, a few more performances like today's and we could soon be languishing near the bottom of the table.

We now have a 3 week break for Songkran. Next game is away at MuangKan Utd on 23 April.

The 3 week Songkran break comes to an end this weekend. I've been trying to get booked on to Saturday's supporter's bus with no success this week. Mrs BB phoned the club today and was told there will be no supporter's buses this season for 2 reasons i.e.:

- The one I think we all know, financial constraints - it has never failed to amaze me that away matches have always been completely free. I have for a couple of seasons now, always insisted on paying my way by sponsoring the youth setup. That sponsorship will have to stop now that I have to pay for my own travel.

- The supporter's club has become divided, and there are 2 opposing factions. Rather than decide which faction should control travel, it has been easier to withdraw the benefit.

I will now be driving myself this weekend, but I will carefully choose which other matches I drive to. I will travel to the 2 Samut Sakhons, Chumphon and maybe Assumption. Of course, in the unlikely event of this season's team being contenders, I will extend that list.

Just a thought.

There's a few farang travel on the bus. I went to 2 away games last season and wanted to go to most of them this season.

Surely the bus can't be that expensive to charter between us ?

Feedback please.

I would take 2 seats (Mrs BB & I) - I'd think 4,000 Baht would cover most mini-buses (I would guess possibly a lot less). That would be about 400 Baht/head.

I'd be ore than happy to pay for my share - as I've already said, I've been paying indirectly for a couple of seasons now, so I'd definitely be in.

I'll be driving tomorrow, with an overnight stay - I like Kanchanaburi anyway, but certainly much better with an organised trip, and somebody else driving/finding the way.

Muangkan 1 - 1 Vana Nava Hua Hin City

A crazy 42C marked the resumption of Div 2 after the 3 week Songkran break. Despite the 3 week break, we were still missing some key players such as Nutthapong and Jenrop.

It was so strange to be at an away game without so many familiar faces. There were a couple of die hards, but the away section was pretty empty, and of course no band  . There was no atmosphere whatsoever. Even the home band didn't get fired up until the 35th minute.

Hua Hin started with a suicidal gameplan. They repeatedly made stupid crossfield defensive passes where there was 1 Hua Hin player against 3 Muangkan players - a decent side would have punished us heavily for that.

Shota was also defending his goal from several yards outside his own penalty area. Muangkan actually tried lobbing him from well inside their own half. However, apart from his suspect positioning, he was back to his usual safe self. He had very little chance with the Muangkan goal.

Camara had yet another of his signature air shots. The goal was at his mercy, and yet again he kicked fresh air. Like him or not, Nutthapong does know where the net is.

Probably on the day, 1 - 1 was a fair result, but yet again we had to rely on Wongsawad scoring from a set piece. A beautifully flighted ball from just outside the penalty area.

I suppose we have to take some consolaion from still being unbeaten.

Home to Chumphon next Sunday at 17:30

I guess not - this time last season, people were full of great things happening at Hua Hin City, and wanting to be part of it. I expect the same people are now Leicester City supporters as well. :?
