So around 4 weeks ago I started training for this. I started off being able to run 8k. I got up to 16k just over a week ago. Today I went for 20k but I had to walk 5k as my dodgy knee didn't hold up.

So it looks like it will have to be part run part walk unfortunately. :(

Signed up for the half-marathon under the 'Wado Karate Federation - Hua Hin' flag.
So not ready for it.....
Can't even get up early enough to run before it gets too hot
Better hit the treadmill.

See you there! Only a few weeks to go.
So not ready for it.....
Don't worry, I'm sure there will be many who don't make it off the beach.

For those who have done this before; do they supply bottles of water at intervals along the route or do I need to run with my CamelBak?

Yes, they definitely provided water last year. However, oxygen would have been more appropriate finishing at the top of Hin Lek Fai. This year's mini marathon is for girls

GN, there were even dancing girls laid on to entertain as you gasped for breath last year.

If you've submitted a single application for more than one person, make sure you check that the second participant is listed here.

I submitted an application for both myself and my girlfriend, then received a phone call a couple of days later apologising and saying that they'd lost my girlfriend's details due to a system glitch. A week later, her name still isn't showing, so I have sent an email to clarify.

Sunday is getting very close now.....

How's the training going guys?

I'm managing to get the distance in now but my timing sucks and I'm now sore all over and blighted with blisters... didn't realise it was so much work becoming an athlete :P

Hope to meet you guys Sunday morning and perhaps all get together and have a big English breakfast at Oasis after the run. To recognise me - I'll be wearing my Wado Karate Federation t-shirts kindly supplied by Sensei John for the run. John will be there wearing his too.

Training was going well until 4 days ago. Got a tooth infection and both ears are blocked up. Due to this, I'll be running doped up on painkillers and antibiotics. Wonderful!

I'll be the guy wearing Superman trunks. Come and say hello! :D

Edit: Oasis was gonna be my stop off after (me dad and gran will be waiting there) so look forward to a chinwag.

What was your time Ginjaninja?

I've only managed the full 22k once and my time was 2h 17 minutes which, after googling, is ten minutes over the average male time.

I'll just be happy to finish it in my current state.

Too much information.
Too much information.

I'm not competing this year, but I'll be snapping a few photos (so GLC in Superman trunks - an early warning of what may be posted).

Breakfast in Oasis sounds good, but you'll need to put in a good time - John has to be at work by 9.

No, no... if I wore those while runnning, I'd be arrested.

They are just swimming shorts with a superman logo on. Every time I feel like tapping out, I can just glance down and be inspired by the man of steel himself.

Regarding the time - I was pushing to try and do it under 2hrs but, after my recent illness, I'll be happy with anything around 2hr and 30 minutes.

Edit: I'll guess John gets back around 1hr 30 surely. Young fit lad like himself.

GLC,
hoping for around two hours also but not confident I'll be on form Sunday.
Cheers,
GN.

Edit: John is doing the 10k so he'll be done in well under an hour.

I hear ya, man. Not confident at all on this side. 12 days ago, sure...

Edit: Just to add, I have the finals of the Hua Hin Singles Pool competition to play at 7pm on the Saturday so...

...it seems that the powers that be don't wan't me to finish this run. :D
