High School

Post by canthai »

I know there has been alot of talk about schools here, however there is little information on High Schools. My daughter is now 14 and will be entering grade 9 here in Canada in the fall of 2009. We have considered moving to Hua Hin but without a proper school for my daughter we will have to wait. My question to those of you with teens in high school where are they being educated and at what cost? Are there any places in Hua Hin or do you have to send them to Bangkok? I am looking for english taught curriculum. Thanks

There is some info here:

And a lot of threads here on what essentially will be your two options: Somtawin and Yamsaard. You may bet a better response from parents with specific questions.

We decided to leave our 15 year old in the U.S. because of lack of a good school in Hua Hin. We found that paying room and board to a willing family who were friends of ours was cheaper than the international British or American curriculum boarding schools in Bangkok! That was nearly 5 years ago so maybe there are better or cheaper options now, but I haven't heard of them.

I understand that decision HHF, it does seem that one of the few things that Hua Hin lacks is a decent choice of capable schools, very limited, but they are conspicuous by their absence. I went through and visited a lot of them(schools, not universities) earlier this year looking at them as possible work places or as somewhere to send a son or daughter and was genuinely surprised by the, well, 'averageness'(if there is such a word) of them.

This was in April this year, so it might have changed since then, I'm not sure. You ladies and gents that reside there can answer that one.

spit fire - I did the same in Jan/Feb and came to the same conclusion. It's pretty disappointing because HH has a lot going for it otherwise.
I'm now looking elsewhere for me and my kids ... it's pity as I've struck up some good friendships in HH over the past 5-6 years and I really like the place.
