For Baht 500, they would have got her through the test in 30 seconds.
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.
Re: Driving Schools in Hua Hin
A Thai driving test isn't very demanding anyway.
Basically you have to drive around a "road" painted on the car park of the test centre, reverse into a box and then reverse into a parking space as if you were parallel parking and that is pretty much it.

That would reduce my chances down to less than 50% thenSTEVE G wrote:A Thai driving test isn't very demanding anyway.

Just a bit off topic, but TRUE.
A friend in OZ had a bit of a scare with cancer. His Doctor, (female), put him on some female hormone treatment with strict instructions to tell her immediately if he noticed any side affects.
After about 1 month she asked him if he had noticed any side affects. Acting all embarrassed he said, "well, yes there is one thing". Jeez, says the Doctor, I told you to let me know IMMEDIATELY, what is it?
"Well I didn't want to say, but I cannot parallel park anymore!"
May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead!
Re: Driving Schools in Hua Hin
You can always do Asian style parallel parking where you set up alongside the car in front and then just leave it there and go shopping for half an hour with the hazard lights on.

The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.
Re: Driving Schools in Hua Hin
Just wanted to mention that I stopped by the driving school today and they quoted me 4000 baht for 10 hours (automatic car) or 3600 baht for a manual car. They assure me that's enough to pass the test. A little scary that they're given driving licenses to people who have been behind a wheel for just 10 hours.
Re: Driving Schools in Hua Hin
Maybe I missed it the two times we've been to the DMV, but I don't remember anyone taking a driving test. There's a movie they have to watch, and the thing with the strings so they can see if you're blind or not and that's about it.
I honestly have never heard of a driving school here; we (my Thai wife and I) thought everyone just learned "on the job"s as we say in the States.
My wife has been licensed for twenty years and she won't drive in Hua Hin.....I doubt I would either if I had a choice.
Good luck, but let her get some experience outside of town before she tries doing much driving in traffic.

There's a test. I went there with a friend when she took it. As for learning to drive on your own, I think it's the best option too, except some people might not have a car to practice with.T.I.G.R. wrote:Maybe I missed it the two times we've been to the DMV, but I don't remember anyone taking a driving test. Driving Schools in Hua Hin
Hi
All need to begin figuring out how to drive again in Hua Hin. There used to be a school close to the Gee Aung Thung Supermarket however it appears have gone at this point. Does anybody know where they have moved to or another driving school?
