^I doubt if China's problems are helped by being the world's largest importer of fossil fuels.
It's the same with Thailand, all the money that goes to importing oil is a huge drain on the economy that could be avoided with a move to renewable energy and electric transportation.

Not quite as simple as that - look at how they are used. This also leads to another very valid point regarding EV's, how is the electricity used to power them produced? I worked on numerous power stations in China, and believe me it's far from clean energy. That along with the mining of exotic metals to produce batteries etc. and the impact that has on the environment?

In the West we are being hammered left, right and center, hence I will need to change my car at some stage - but as said, this will be for a hybrid. I truly do care for the environment, but ditching my current ICE helps how?

We all know that there is a degree of state ownership/sponsorship/subsidy in all China's larger international companies, a bigger problem will emerge when the west starts hitting such companies with huge import duties, as the US has with EV's, hence the importance of Europe. The UK is already talking of doing the same. Simply put, no-one trusts Chinese Government companies.

The West already has their import duties and quite rightly so. The trust in Chinese companies and products is low, yet the majority are clueless as to the simple fact the majority of goods are either made, assembled in China or contain their products - regardless of how they are labelled (Apple, Microsoft, Samsung et al)!

...I don't see that happening in Thailand.

And a very simple reason for that - China own them! As they do numerous African nations and a few more in Asia! Sad, sad times....

IceHOLES out on the prowl - but who are they?

EV drivers also must contend with IceHOLES who deliberately park in spots designated for EV charging in misguided allegiance to the oil industry that fuels their internal combustion engine (hence the ICE).

The Facebook group IceHOLES and EvHOLES Australia shames both combustion engine drivers who park in EV charging stations and prima donna EV Drivers who use charging stations as their personal parking spaces while they go off to the shops with no consideration of the other EV users wanting to fill up.

I'm still reeling from the "Icehole" bit - despite the fact I don't park in "Charging Spots", I'm apparently in a new "Anti-Group" due to the fact that I can't afford to change my (ICE) car(s).... Oh dear.

But, what's the feeling of Musk visiting China for negotiations regarding "Driver-Assisted" software? The whole "Driverless" issue continues,

Shared Technology? The likes of BYD will continue to have Chinese Government support - the Chinese will always steal technology, what the feck is Musk doing?

Goes against a few arguments on this thread, but then again EV sales are dropping (like a brick) worldwide.

I'm getting to the point where EV's are only useful, affordable ("Small Sized") and have the infrastructure within "City Limits". Zero point in "High Performance", but obviously a market for Saloons etc. and this only for taxis or Airport Transfers..... And this will remain for a long, long time.

I'll stick with being an "Icehole" for the time being - the cost of doing otherwise at the moment in the UK is prohibitive.
