You’ll be in even less of a hurry if they start fining speedsters!!

I don't suppose any information is ever published or available regarding the total income from these speed cameras? The same section south of Hua Hin where I collected my SIX speeding fines is still largely ignored. I proceed carefully at 80 kph while a stream of cars thunder by - I was even overtaken by a bike yesterday on the inside !!

I often wonder about bikes and speed cameras. The cameras usually capture the car's number plate as it approaches. Bikes don't have a forward facing number plate. Yes, I've seen a few cameras around that capture the rear number plate, but not many.

Bikes would just ignore any speeding ticket in any case, as I am sure most drivers do.

I've been looking for many weeks, and I think I may have at last spotted berlinmichael's speed camera. It was quite a regular car with 'here' written on the side.

On the roof of the car there was a little white box sticking up, which I presumed was some sort of sensor. In front of the white box there was a gold/brown bar sticking up about 9" with what looked like small cameras inside it. It was quite difficult to see, and the attached dashcam photo doesn't really show a lot.

The car was driving just below the speed limit, encouraging everybody to go past. I was approaching a regular speed camera so was only doing 60kph myself as I overtook.

Of course, I have no evidence that this is a police camera car, but it was definitely a car with external cameras. It could have been another Google Street View vehicle.

[Edit] I have Googled 'google street view vehicles thailand' and the images returned all have, 'Google Street View' written on the side.

^I've just had a look on Google and Here is a Dutch multinational who are into digital mapping and location services, so I guess that car is doing something along those lines.

Unlucky Big Boy - I thought you had it !! The camera has changed position a number of times as the angle on my speeding photos indicates both a low level lens in the central reservation as well as a high level lens on a street lamp or similar. I must have been through that road section 20-30 times over recent months and I've not yet seen any camera !! Keep looking guys....

Right. Went up to Khampaeng Phet last week along the Asian highway, got two laser detections, first probably the car in front, then possibly mine. They now have instant-on laser guns, and were shooting out the back windscreen of an unmarked white pickup parked on the road shoulder. The location just a few km short of Singburi, the checkpoint at the old toll booth. Also at the second toll booth, but still with the conventional Ka band radar just short of the toll booth.
Haven't seen them using those instant on guns for years, last was up on the way to Saraburi almost 10 years ago. They probably have a new budget for new toys..

Somebody on social media today is suggesting this is the new look speed camera. Any thoughts?

If it is correct, there will be little chance of spotting them.

Yes, that indeed looks like a laser speed gun. They are typically handheld, so this may be a remote model and would account for the weird angles previously reported.

It kind of looks like WALL-E. Kids will have fun when Dad tells them to "Spot Wall-E" ! Your children may save you from a speeding ticket!
