Sea Pine Army Golf Club

Post by wih »

Is it right that the Sea Pine Army Golf Club is rising its green fee effective January 2011 due to the new clubhouse? What will the green fee be?

I don't see them finishing the club house by January, but I guess anything is possible, and yes, I also heard that the weekday price would rise from 1000 baht to 1500 baht. I assume that means the weekend price would be somewhere from 1700 to 2000... expensive for a military course, but still one of the best rates around for a course of this quality. Only problem is, everyone knows it's a great deal and 5+ hour rounds seem to be the norm.

Other courses that are mostly empty, especially during the week should wise up and lower their rate a little to make much more money and keep their staff busy.

I was at Black Mountain yesterday around 10 a.m. and there were about a dozen cars in the garage. Surely it would be better to lower the rate by 1000 or 1500 baht and get ten times as many golfers out each day. :? :banghead:

Update, again this is only hearsay, but I played at Sea Pine Military course yesterday and the caddy told me the price will go up to 2,500 baht when the clubhouse is finished next month. If true that would put it on par (pun intended) with most of the pricing of the private courses here. Shame, if true, as it was nice to have a decent course close to town that wasn't so over priced like most of the rest.

What is the current pricing structure? I was told that you could play 9 holes here if you wanted

Green Fees are Baht 1000 on week days and Baht 1,500 at weekends plus baht 250 caddy fee until 31st December. They will increase when the club house is completed

If you take a guest, to just watch you from a golf cart, then that person is also charged the FULL green fee rate.

I was told at Sea Pines, that this army course was built for the soldiers and their friends - so 'tourists and residents' etc do not expect any special deal.

Does anyone know if Sea Pines will offer reduced fees in the form of pre purchase multiple rounds or an annual rate? I imagine that memberships will not be offered.

TIA :D

I don't remember the details because it didn't sound like a good deal to me, but they are/were offering annual memberships according to someone I spoke to a while ago at the ticket (greens fee) desk. It was something in the 15 to 20k annual range plus four or five hundred still for green fee each round. That was early on so could have been speculation on the part of the employee.

I do not know when you last played Sea Pines but the condition of the course has deteriorated IMO since it opened.

If you have not played recently I suggest you go and have a look - particularly the greens which are hard and covered in sand.

Anyone have a phone number for booking at Sea Pines? I can't seem to find one off any of the Hua Hin golf web sites.

Apparently (rumour) is that the other "biggies" in town had a word in the shell like of management and suggested prices in line with their's as farangs have plenty of lolly - Gordon Gecko like.
PS nice club house!

I think we should remember that Sea Pines was 'built for the Army and their friends', as is well known and told to me at the club in the very beginning.

They do not need 'our' green fees etc etc so we must accept their conditions gracefully or play elsewhere.

I have no problem with this

I have no problem either, I have simply "played elsewhere" ever since they raised the price. :D
