2011 Cha-Am / Hua Hin Golf Festival

Other than the Sunday competitions, which I don't know about, you don't get paired up with anyone. You go along as a 4 ball (or whatever) of your own choosing and book a tee time as you normally would. The two months aren't a competition, they're just a festival of discounted golf.

Does anyone know whether Australian handicaps can be used in the sunday Comps as the slope handicap system is not going to be introduced in Australia until 2012

Hi all, I'm just a rookie here but played a few times in gold festival in the past years. Some are good and some just so so particular last year - hot and drought. As I'm planning a trip to Hua Hin this summer and will bring my golf gear if the condition is good. Could anyone kindly give me some info on the course condition this year?

I played at Black Mountain, Majestic, Lake View and Springfield a couple of weeks ago and the courses were all in pretty good condition.

Ive just been reading about The Golf Festival in Hua Hin , sounds great. The special pricing of 800 baht to play top courses sounds great to us Aussies. I will be in Hua Hin late September - I would like to play with a few of you Ex Pats , so should I book direct with the courses/pro shop or contact a few of you guys when I get there. My family is with me and my son will also want to play - he's nopt a regular player like me (tragic). I will be staying at The Sheraton for 7 days - should I hire a car or get a taxi here/there etc?

Any advice would be appreciated guys!

Check at Bernies Inn (bar) in a small soi in the bazaar area off the beach road. That's the home of the Hua Hin Golf Society and there are usually some golfers there in the evenings. Bernie can help you find a partner. Also, check on here or at his bar with JW. He is a keen golfer and always willing to help.

I will be in Hua Hin from the 21st and keen to play a few games - Ive been advised to call in at Bernies to organise some golf - see ya there guys! Can't wait to play. Ive never played with the aid of a caddy - any advice ? Im a 16 handicap here in Aussie so I have a failrly good idea. Is a caddy really needed ?

If you're a 16 handicap, be careful of any advice the caddy gives you. Look at the distances and the greens yourself, listen to the caddy if you want, and see if you agree. At your level, if you disagree I would just follow your own advice and you will know if you or the caddy is better after the first few holes.

Unfortunately, you will have to repeat this process every round you play unless you reserve the same caddy as they have as different a level of experience and golfers do.
