Hua Hin golf course update

Post by Tazwa »

Hi, I'd really appreciate it if someone could provide some feedback on the condition of any of these courses after playing within the past month:
Majestic Creek
Lake View
Springfield
Thanarat

My understanding is that lack of rainfall has left some courses a little dry and barren in recent months. Will be playing BM, Banyan and Sea Pines and looking for another one or two courses in good nick.

Look forward to your replies.
Thanks

Thanarat will be worst of this lot. It's not professionally managed at all and since the generals would never dare show themselves on it in its present state the money goes on up to Sea Pines. Conscripts do the dirty work on the course and as they are being rotated in/out about now the whole place goes begging. It does in the best of times.

Aside: This could be a really show place little golf course! Give me a dozen good hands (problem #1) and a couple of rotary mowers (6 would be better - also #2) and the improvements would be VAST and at minimal cost and every general would be proud to show his unearned stars there. They won't be needing any weed eaters as they have plenty of those as the money for the mowers was stolen long ago. Sounds like a hive of bees at times and that is what they often use to cut the fairways - such as they are! There is more to it than just that of course but the layout is there and I believe water enough to sort out that end of it as well. Aye, I know - bold talk for a . . . .

Agreed, played Thanarat a few times in 2012/13 and it was a great place to play. Turned up there July last year and the fairways were atricious. Having said that, golf is what you make it and I've had some fun at The Dolphin Bay 9 hole course too. Just not the experience I'm after this time.

Would particularly like to hear thoughts on Lake View and Springfield as I've not played these before.

Thanks

Springfield is arguably the best layout in the area (A and B) but has suffered in the dry spell but is recovering well. Unsure about Lake View but always seems to have lacked water.

Lakeview AB is in good condition and there is plenty of water in the lakes'

Both Springfield and Lakeview are in good condition. Drought not an issue now as has been enough rain to get the grass growing again. Will take a while to fill up the lakes again. You should play them both.

Thanks guys for taking the time to respond. I'll hopefully give both Springfield and Lakeview a shot on this trip.
