A magnitude-7 earthquake struck northern Japan Friday, the Meteorological Agency said.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property. The agency did not issue a tsunami warning.

The epicentre of the 12.06pm (0306 GMT) quake was off the east coast of the northern island of Hokkaido, at a depth of 10 kilometres, the agency said.

I was in Karachi, Pakistan when the 7.8 earth quake hit Khash, Iran 16 April and it shook the entire hotel I was in, a pretty scary scenario considering I was 685km away, god knows what it would be like at the epicenter.
