Came in last week from SFO on United. SFO to Tokyo maybe 30% full; Tokyo to BKK probably 50% full. Fare was $850 RT. Also had business in Guam. Flew through Manila on Phillippine Airwary. BKK to MNL about 50% full both ways.

am going to LOS in April with my kids and intened on taking my Thai G/F back with us but was unable to get her a seat on teh same flight (Thai). What has really amazed me though is getting her an alternative flight. There are no direct flights available that day with anyone. Thai Airways the following days is quoting 140,000 Baht ! The rest are indirects (which as a 1st time flyer she's too scared to handle). So where is this credit crunch ??

Any Thai travel agencies in your area? Our first trip together, many years ago, I did my normal intensive internet search, coming up with the best price, absolutely.

My Thai (now wife) GF said, "oh we need to try a Thai travel agency"

I humored her so we found a Thai agency in the thai phone book here in California. We went and found it a 1/2 travel, 1/2 beauty salon.

The Lady pried herself away from the hair dryers, spent 5 minutes on the computer, and came back with a price 10% cheaper than my expert internet search, on the same plane!!

It was so much difference I called Thai Air right after we left, but all was well.

My wife's late husband (Thai) had quite a few connections, and she explained that Thai Air always keeps some extra seats for Thai customers (and distribute thru Thai agencies).

Since then I've always checked, but she always beats me.

Worth a try.

There is something strange about that price as I've just had a look and you can get a direct Thai air flight from the UK, leaving today for 558 GBP.

Right now, a RT ticket is ca. 550 Euros on Quatar Airways with a 2 hours stop in Doha.

Prices may vary quite a lot. The price I have given is available for February/March... But in summertime, it climbs up to 900 Euros...

"am going to LOS in April"

From oz and return in April around songkran time it is almost impossible to get a seat with Thai Air and if you can it is VERY expensive.
You only live once.
