If the buses are not shown as being available (and don't forget I've been tracking availability for a couple of days) I'd rather not take the chance unless it's an emergency. My advice is still to book in advance to avoid disappointment. Our friends have unnecessarily spent the first 1.5 hours of their very expensive holiday waiting for a bus.

ok squire

I just got my admin girl to phone them,

17 seats on the 3pm today

none available on the website.

once that bus time slot is taken off the website, it reduces the chance of it selling out.

I have used the service around 6 times in the last 7 weeks, so am guessing my experience is more than most.

I used to book inadvance but after credit card fees etc it was costing 9 uk pounds due to my card being a uk one.
If I pay in person as my salary is in baht, it costs 269 baht.

OK, I'll bow to your superior knowledge. Don't book guys, take a chance on the day. :?

Personally, I will still book in advance though, and advise all visitors to do likewise.

it was nice when you could book in town at the old start point and pay cash

You can still do that at the new bus station out by the airport, at least you could four weeks ago.

you can book in person by going to the counter or also by phone but you need a thai credit card.

if you use a uk the cost ends up nearer to 9 pounds than 5 pounds when you pay in baht.

I've always gone to the counter, and paid cash - no need for a card, Thai or otherwise. I booked 7 seats this morning using good old fashioned cash.

I think the Thai credit card requirement was in reference to paying by phone

Even if it costs you £9 as Jose mentioned it, it is still a lot cheaper than taking a taxi and via their site you are sure to get a seat
I would not chance it any more got caught twice with the bus full and had to wait for ages

ok Humble Pie time

I turned up at 250pm to jump on the 3pm bus on Thursday

they had a thai family turn up 10 minutes before and they had 15 people in the family so SOLD OUT at 3pm
He had one seat left on the 4.30pm which he sold to me.

I got my admin girl to phone them and both buses were practically empty up until 12pm.
So they sold 35 seats via walk up alone.

I got a couple pints of draft Singha from the bar that is 20 seconds walk from the bus ticket counter and jumped on the 4.30pm.

No need for Humble Pie Jose. If you live here, and travel on your own, I agree 99% of the time you'll be able to turn up and catch a bus.

My post was aimed at families who have already had a considerable journey getting as far as the airport, then having to wait hours for a bus because they are full. Our friends were lucky as they only had to watch 2 buses go, before they could continue their journey.

Happy to report I booked on line two weeks ago from Survarnabhumi to Huahin on the 3pm service on Saturday and all went well.

On average I do 4 round trips a year to Bangkok using the airport bus. Always buy my tickets in advance. About 75% of the time the bus from the airport for which I have a ticket is full. Most of the other times it's almost full, which means sitting in the back near the Source Of Human Generated Stench. Going to Bangkok, I usually take the 10:30. About half the time it's full.

VIP Bus Suvarnabhum - Hua Hin

Post by PGS »

Hi there, a couple of years ago there was a decent coach service directly from bkk to Cha Am and Hua Hin. Is this still running? I seem to recall I prebooked my seat, but cannot find/recall the companyname/website. Thankful for good advices.

I'm assuming you're talking about the airport bus that used to operate just south of the town. It's still operating but from their new location close to Hua Hin airport. You can book online. This is their website:
