Flights to/from Thailand status, news, and updates
Re: Flights to/from Thailand status, news, and updates
Looking to book a flight with AirAsia for March before prices are hiked and have found one at reasonable price but it has this warning: "Flight is subject to obtaining government approval".
I presume this is for a new route or airport? Has anyone seen this warning? Is it safe to book? How can an airline sell a flight that doesn't exist yet?

Although when you put actual dates in, the fares come out considerably more expensive than the “from” prices indicated

I presume from the lack of response, nobody has ever encountered this. Seems a little dodgy that an airline can sell seats on a flight that hasn't been approved yet. Not taking the risk with booking and paying for flights/hotels in advance and potentially having them cancelled.

More than possibly dodgy.

^Yes, I’ve never come across that situation before but I personally wouldn’t attempt to buy a ticket under those circumstances.

Found identical return flights (different city), baggage allowance, etc, on Trip.com for 15% less than booking through AirAsia directly.
Has anyone used Trip.com to book flights?

I flew Guangzhou - Kunming - Guangzhou last Christmas time and booked the tickets via Trip. All worked well. I have used Trip quite a lot for my hotel and all my train bookings in China. For the hotels, they have much bigger selection than other sites I have used or seen, in China at least. I just booked a hotel for two nights in Shenzhen for the coming weekend.Has anyone used Trip.com to book flights?
The site has always worked perfectly for me and if for any reason I have needed to cancel the booking within the time, it's allowed, I've always got my money back swiftly.

My friend in the UK swears by them. She has just flown LHR-Hanoi-Luang Prabang, then Vientiane-Singapore-LHR, plus all hotel bookings as well.
As a consequence, I will try them for my next trip (hotels).
Talk is cheap

I've not used them, but I have a friend in the UK saying it is working out a lot cheaper booking through both Agoda and Booking.com, which I presume is similar to Trip.com.

Yes, have also ditched Agoda (too much aggro and bs from them over the years).
Booked the flights through Trip.com and and saved 4,000 THB - will use that for hotels going forward. Thanks for the replies.
