AirAsia route Hua Hin to KL

Post by buksida »

AirAsia, is set to fly to Hua Hin, Thailand, with four times weekly direct flights from here, starting May 18.

In a statement today, AirAsia said the route, operated on flight code AK, marked the airline's seventh route into Thailand while providing the widest network in ASEAN and connecting the road less travelled in the region to the world.

Head of Commercial, Spencer Lee, said the airline carried about 1.3 million of guests from Kuala Lumpur to Thailand and is positive that Hua Hin would be the new preferred holiday destination, while further contributing to tourism growth for both cities.

"AirAsia currently operates 165 weekly flights one way to Thailand, including Bangkok (80 times weekly), Phuket (35 times weekly), Krabi (21 times weekly), Hat Yai (7 times weekly), Chiang Mai (14 times weekly), and Pattaya (4 times weekly) and now Hua Hin," he said.

To celebrate the launch of this new route, AirAsia is offering promotional all-in-fares from RM79 for one way from now to March 4, 2018, for the travel period between May 18, 2018, and Oct 26, 2018.

Looks as if Hua Hin airport is going to become active again, the Air Asia website is up and running, and are offering promo return flights,as of this morning from 2700baht,HH,to KUL,based upon a return flight booked for end may. This does not include any checked baggage, which as always is extra, the cabin allowance the usual 7kg.
The departure times from both airports are reasonable also,HH at 11,30,KUL at 10,00.
Will be interesting to see how the service pans out in the coming months.

If I recall correctly, AirAsia wanted a deal whereby Thailand pays to upgrade the airport, plus they wanted free or reduced landing fees for the initial period of operation.

So the Department of Airports decided to invest in services at the airport. They'll have to setup immigration, security, baggage handling, increased fire services.

FYI Hua Hin airport IATA code is HHQ

Only 30 minutes between landing and take off from HH is pretty fast to get everybody off, everybody on, clean and refuel (unless it comes with enough fuel for the return flight). Still if it gets good reports, I might give it a try.

Depends a bit on just what aircraft that they use. But actual air time less than 2 hours.

Hua Hin airport ready for first flight from Kuala Lumpur
Hua Hin airport in southern Thailand has been ready for the first passenger flight from Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur on upcoming Friday, said airport director Aphisit Ubonkomut Monday.

Hua Hin airport, about 200 km south of Bangkok, is scheduled to welcome the inaugural flight of Malaysia's low-cost carrier AirAsia from Kuala Lumpur on Friday.

AirAsia's Airbus A320 airliner is scheduled to leave Kuala Lumpur for Hua Hin in a one-hour flight carrying 150 passengers and crewmembers.

Given Hua Hin-Kuala Lumpur air travels, an increased number of Malaysian tourists are expected to visit the world's renowned seaside resort and nearby spots, the airport director said.
