Lets stick with the ferry, the bus service should be a separate thread.

It won't be a taxi as such, I'm staying at the Hilton, will get one of their limos to take me. Costs more but worth it.

As there is no ferry we might as well discuss other ways of getting there

Had the ferry company discussed such options, I for one would have not been so fearful of the service being cancelled, and would have used it more often. That combined with their quoted no cancellation refund policy made it a big NO for me.

Pattaya-Hua Hin ferry resumes service to welcome Thailand's high tourist season
A ferry boat shuttling passengers between Pattaya and Hua Hin across the Gulf of Thailand, which has temporarily stopped service, will be returning to the sea on Thursday.

Hua Hin City's chief clerk Chareewat Phramanee confirmed on Wednesday that Royal Passenger Liner Co.'s ferry boat will resume daily service throughout the upcoming high tourist season.

Given a low turnout of passengers during low season, the ferry boat has suspended service from Sept. 20 until Wednesday.

The 340-seat catamaran shuttles passengers daily between Pattaya and Hua Hin for a fare of 1,250 baht (about 37.87 U.S. dollars) in economy class and 1,550 baht (about 46.96 U.S. dollars) in first class.

Considering you can fly to KL and back for about 2,000 baht the ferry pricing is ridiculous. Are we in Hua Hin here or Monte Carlo?

I took the bus a few weeks ago, yes it took longer 5 hours, really comfortable, had a good sleep and the cost was 400baht each way. Well worth it

Are there taxis waiting at the Pattaya side. Or do we need to arrange something in advance?

Pattaya-Hua Hin ferry suspended ahead of Pabuk storm
Ferry services between Pattaya and Hua Hin have been suspended ahead of the arrival of Tropical Storm Pabuk that is expected to hit southern Thailand tomorrow.

Although Pattaya and Hua Hin are not expected to be hit by the storm, the operators decided to suspend the services as a safety measure. Hua Hin’s beaches are now experiencing strong currents possibly from the impact of the impending storm. The operators will decide whether to lift the suspension on daily basis. The Met Department has forecast that Pabuk (a Mekong giant catfish) will come to Surat Thani and Nakhon Si Thammarat on Friday and Saturday before moving to the Andaman Sea.

The presence of the storm would result in heavy rainfall, strong winds and high waves. Some southern residents have moved to higher ground.
